Adventure Through the Cosmos

Hi All. This is my first work of fiction. Scratch that, it is my first piece of writing. This is an isekai/transmigration/reincarnation type novel where a modern 21th homo sapien finds himself travelling through what seems like a day dream. "We are all like fireworks: we climb, we shine and always go our separate ways and become further apart. But even when that time comes, let’s not disappear like a firework and continue to shine.. forever" The story follows an unfortunate soul who goes through the trouble of finding the meaning of his life. For he doesn't wish to disappear like fireworks. Watch it as it tries to find the answers. Trying to defy whatever was pushing him to make choices he didn't want to make.

Chapter 8

When I came back to my senses, I was in my room in my bed. My new teacher was sitting beside me in a chair with my necklace in her hand.

'Eh, My necklace....'

I remember that my mother gave me that when I turned 1. She told me to always were it and not remove it. At first I thought it was a heirloom. Then, after I realized that it was a world of magic I never removed it. It might save my life one day.

Rose saw me waking up and smiled at me.

"This was from your mother?" she asked. "yes." I replied. She then smiled and waved her hand at the necklace.

The necklace floated in air and magic light flowed from her hand to the necklace. It light wove around the necklace like a spring and disappeared into it.

She then gave the necklace back to me. "Keep it safe. Never ever show it to anyone else. This saved your life. It will do the same in the future as much as it can. People search for great powers in the world. They kill for it. They betray for it. But they never realize that it is in things they gave up the power lies."

She said that to me and left me alone in the room. She then turned back and threw a smile at me. With the setting sun lighting her smile, I saw something I never seen. A smile of a goddess. That is the closest thing I can describe it to. The smile wasn't that of a cheerful smile that young people do. But someone who saw the vicissitudes of life do when they encourage the younger generation.

At that moment I realized that my teacher wasn't young. But someone who has been through tougher life and hope their children do not go through it. Someone who still has still preserved innocence no matter what life has thrown them.

I took the necklace and worn it around my neck. Holding it in my hand and thinking about what my teacher meant I fell asleep again. I felt pretty tired. Not of the body but of mind. Dreaming about what magic can be I slept peacefully.

From the next day I had a schedule for me. Paul trains me in the afternoon. And after that it is magic lessons.

The afternoon's about training with Paul. There's no wooden sword fitting my body size, so training's basically physical here.

Jogging, push-ups, sit-ups, and so on.

Anyway, it seems Paul's plan is based around getting me to move first.

On days when Paul's unable to train me due to work, it could be said that basic body training was something that cannot be missed every single day.

That's the same no matter which world it is.

I'll try my best.

As a child, my physical body can't endure the training for an the entire afternoon, so swordsmanship will end in the early afternoon.

Because of that, I'll expend my mana till dinner. Rose thought me magic again from the beginning. Why the magic incantation is the way it is and how that helps us prepare for voiceless incantation.

The runes of magic, the spell structure, mental power .....

The reason why I was able to use magic without proper mental power and runes is because of the necklace. It simplified everything but because of it, if I depended on my path on magic would be very short.

"External power is short lived. Always depend on yourself. When you are strong, external power increases your strength. If not it becomes your weakness. Ultimately when they are taken away you can only depend on yourself." That is Rose said regarding my necklace.

The spells I learned are of Priest spells. They are magic spells with power of god. That is why those spells are easy to learn. And my necklace is something that helps Priests get in touch with magic and help them in learning magic. But it requires the power of gods. So the power in my necklace is limited and I have learn magic the traditional way.

The power structure of traditional magicians and of warriors is similar to that of Priests.

First is Apprentice. If it is a warrior then Apprentice Warrior. If of magic then Apprentice mage.

Then is Black Iron warrior or Elementary Mage. Some countries follow Black iron, Silver, Gold, Adamantine.

Some countries follow Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced, True Warrior or mage. The path of power depending on the body is way of warriors and of mind is Mages.

Depending on elemental affinity and profession mages and warriors are further classified.

Anyway coming back to my magic class I first studied the Water Bullet.

They are many runes required for me to use before I cast a water bullet. There are also meditation required for me to increase my mental power. All the spells I cast before because of the necklace improved my mental power and have good control over it. It was better than my peers who learned magic at my age.

But there was also a limit of casting spells. It was like in the beginning when just learned casting. But a lot times slower. A spell a day drained me of my mental power.

But slower I got better.

A Year later...

Magic spells expend different amounts of mana depending on the 'changes to the size'.

For example, if the default is 1 for voiceless incantations, additional mana will be expended the more I expand the spell and increase the speed.

The law of conservation of mass at work. But in contrast, for some reason, the smaller I make it to be, the more mana I have to use up.

I really don't understand the logic.

Creating a single droplet of water requires me to use much more mana than creating a fist-sized water bullet.

It's really strange.

I asked Rose this question I always had, but the only answer I got was "You will know about it in the future".

I still don't understand the reason for now. But this isn't a bad method for my training.

My mana capacity has increased quite a bit recently. If I don't use some large spells, I won't be able to expend it all.

If I simply want to wear out my mana supply, I just need to use maximum output until it runs out.

But now it's time to try training my dexterity. Thus, I decided to do some very delicate works.

Using magic to do small, refined and delicate work.

For example, the creation of an ice statue, lighting a fire on my fingertip, or writing words on the board. I tried splitting the soil I obtain from the courtyard into parts…

And even things like hanging a key in front of the knob.

Earth magic does affect metals and minerals to some extent.

But the more metallic the item was, the more mana I had to expend.

I guess it's really hard to change things that are sturdier.

The smaller the control target, the more delicate, complicated the task was, and the more accurate and efficient it is, the more mana that had to be expended.

Throwing a ball with all my strength.

Slowly leading a thread through the hole of a needle.

The amount of mana required for these two actions was roughly the same.

Also, I tried using various types of magic at the same time.

I needed to use at least 3 times more mana.

So if I use 2 different systems of magic at the same time, and cast them gently, precisely, swiftly at the same time, I can easily deplete all my mana.

And after continuing such training everyday------

I guess this should be enough. My heart started to waver.

My lazy bones are starting to tell me that this should be enough already, right?

Each time, I yelled and scolded myself.

Muscles grow numb if one slacks off in training.

Surely mana works the same way. I can't neglect my training just because I had some increase in capacity.

While casting magic in the middle of the night, I could hear some irritating yelping noises.

Where are they coming from? Of course it was from Paul and Lilith's room.

Busy working.

Maybe in the not-so-distant future, my younger brother or sister will be born, I guess.

I think it's good to have a little sister.

Yup, I don't want a younger brother.

A cute sister is better.

"Goodness gracious…"

In my past life, if I heard something that annoying, I would immediately slam the wall and floor to shut them up.

Such nostalgia. At that time, I always thought the people who did that were the malice that painted my world since I was alone and only had one night stands.

But recently, I changed my thinking.

I'm not sure if it's because my body became that of a kid, because of my parents, or because I'm working hard for my future myself.

But I'm about to eavesdrop on their actions with a magnanimous, supporting attitude.

Hmph, I'm an adult too...

I can more or less guess what's going on just from listening to the noises.

It seems that Paul's very good at this.

As for Lilith, she'll be knocked down after a while, being all breathless and such, but Paul would say something like "It's still early~", and keep on attacking.

Just like a protagonist in some sexual humiliation ero-game.

An unspeakable amount of stamina...

Hah, since I'm Paul's son here, maybe I too have that kind of energy!?

Awaken.

For the Heroines!! Grant me the pink colored development!!

Well, that initial enthusiasm's wilted recently though, and I'm able to calmly head towards the toilet while passing through that creaking corridor.

Just so you know, the creaking would stop whenever I pass by their room. It's really interesting.

That day, I walked to the toilet to indicate my presence, this son of theirs who's able to walk.

Well then, shall I greet them today?

Papa, mama, what are you doing naked? That's what I'll ask.

I'm looking forward to their excuses. Kukuku…
