Abyss Holder

In the desolate urban sprawl, there existed a boy named Steven – a name as commonplace as the concrete beneath his worn-out shoes. His figure, terribly slender, bore the weight of days without sustenance, a stark reflection of the harsh life within the shadows of the towering skyscrapers. His disheveled appearance spoke of deprivation; his clothing, little more than rags haphazardly sewn together, clung to his meager frame. Steven's features, though obscured by grime, revealed a haunting contrast. His black hair, adorned with a few rebellious red strands, framed a face marked by hardship. His pupils, black with a faint but discernible red tint, mirrored the desolation etched into his soul. Staring into the familiar darkness that enveloped his existence, Steven couldn't help but voice the silent question that echoed in his mind, "When is this going to end?" The abyss, seemingly attuned to his despair, responded with a transformative touch. The surroundings, once stagnant and oppressive, began to shift and change before him, trapping him in a perpetual cycle of witnessing his own tragic past unfold. Transported back to the age of six, Steven found himself amidst the warmth of familial joy, his parents' and his own expressions radiating happiness. Yet, even in the midst of this fleeting respite, the relentless cycle persisted, as if destiny reveled in replaying the moments that fueled the flames of his recurrent nightmares. Fighting against the inexorable pull of his haunting memories, Steven, like a slum-bound ghost, yearned for an end to the perpetual loop. The city's towers cast long shadows over his struggle, and the contrast between the opulence above and his desolation below fueled his determination for a better life. In the midst of this dire reality, Steven's path took an unexpected turn when he made the resolute decision to enlist in the military. The armed forces, a gateway to opportunity and escape from the slum's oppressive grasp, promised a chance to break free from the shackles of his impoverished past. Little did Steven know that his journey would extend far beyond the familiar streets of the slums. The military, equipped with advanced technology and knowledge of other dimensions, opened doors to realms previously unimaginable. As he explored new universes and studied the cosmic mysteries, Steven's quest for a better life evolved into a cosmic odyssey, challenging not only the limits of his physical existence but also the boundaries of reality itself. Throughout this transformative journey, Steven, emotionally reserved and scarred by the echoes of his past, found solace in the bonds forged amidst the trials of the military. Trust and love became the cornerstones of his emotional awakening, as he learned to unveil the layers of vulnerability hidden beneath his stoic exterior. As Steven navigates the interwoven tapestry of action, tragedy, romance, sci-fi, adventure, and dimensions, the narrative expands to reflect the complexity of his existence. The story, no longer confined to the limitations of the slums, becomes a symphony of emotions, echoing the resilient spirit of a young man determined to transcend the shadows of his past and embrace the limitless possibilities that unfold across the cosmic expanse.

A place to stay

It was extremely nice to come out into the light; I had so much money that I didn't know what to do with it. As I looked around, I realized I was in an alleyway, and I noticed people strolling on the walkways just outside the alleyway. I stepped out and noticed a fast food restaurant just on the street; it had been a long time since I had something good to eat. "Give me two of each," I said to the stall owner; he glanced at me and asked, "You going to eat all of this yourself, kiddo?" "No, of course not, I'm purchasing it for your kids," I said innocently.

After hearing my statements, the stall owner became silent, but he still packed everything I ordered, so I handed him some RC. After leaving the booth, I wandered around downtown with a bag of various types of meat on sticks. I nearly screamed in delight after taking the first bite of the meat stick; it was as if the rich flavor was dancing on my tongue. As I strolled around and munched on my snacks, I considered what to do next; I had the money I needed, but I couldn't go back to the slums because more people might be after me.

I had no notion where to begin or where to go.

I have no one on whom I can rely. If we go missing, no one will notice. As I stood in the center of the busy streets, starring at the sky that was short to be clouded up, "It could rain," I whispered to myself as I reflected on all I'd been through in my life, Starfall, slums, and now another terrible painful memory linked with this goddamn place. Now that I think about it, everything I had was given to me in return for something, when the Starfall arrived, it took my parents away. When I lived in the slums and discovered the mana core, it removed some of the traits that made me human.

And now I've had to go through so much of the money that has come later. I have witnessed one of humanity's worst aspects. after recalling all of the awful memories and feeling like garbage. I decided to rent a place until I could join the army. I approached a man who was selling some items on the side and asked him about a place where I might rent a room to live.

I found myself in front of a structure with a holographic board that stated R-ferm after obtaining some directions. I walked inside and approached the receptionist. When she noticed me, she asked with a smile, "How can I help you today?" I was shocked since she didn't make any expression after seeing a teenager at the counter instead of an adult, but I quickly repeated, "oh right, I would want to rent a room," my tone was unbothered without any emotions.

Following my response, she led me to a side room where I was introduced to a person who would show me around. I was sitting opposite her on a sofa when she placed a little disk-like device in the middle, which lighted up and revealed a hologram. She then showed me different apartments, and I chose one of the two-room setups for 50k RC per month. She escorted me to a hower vehicle that we took to the location after I selected the room I wanted to rent. I was standing in front of a 15-story structure when I arrived. We climbed to the top level and found ourselves in front of room 2003.

As soon as I walked in, I looked over every single corner of the room; there was no furniture, but the space was enough. After looking around, we ascended to the rooftop, where residents of the building could have combined celebrations and other events. When it was time to pay, I used RC in cash. After I paid and received the keys, the agent recommended a store where I could acquire furniture and appliances and even contacted them for me. They showed me various pieces of furniture on the holographic and after I paid, they delivered everything and placed it in the rooms.

I went to a shop to get some grossness and on my way back I noticed a restaurant I didn't know how to cook so I walked inside it was a calm place which was like a western bar I sat on a seat directly in front of the counter. After I sat down, I noticed a creature on the opposite side with two horns, two glowing lines going through the horns, and a tail with a pointy end. All of his other characteristics were human. He belonged to an alien species known as Ruldi.

That's a fresh face, kid, are you new around here? He questioned as he wiped off the countertop. "ya I just moved in," I replied "I see," he said "I am Jack" he introduced himself "Steven" I introduced myself back "so Steven what would you like to eat," he asked while walking towards the kitchen "anything is ok as long as it's edible" I responded after that he disappeared and I assumed he went to fetch something to eat I sat there thinking about this new lifestyle I had just begun while I was there. It appeared to be pretty tranquil, and I have a safe place to live.

and I'm no longer living in the slums.

While I was contemplating, Jack returned with a plate in his hand. It was a stake on the plate, and the presentation of the food was excellent. I would have leaped on him if it hadn't been for the counter between us. When he placed the dish in front of me, he grinned and remarked, "This is my specialty." When I took the first bite, it was as if fireworks of flavors were exploding in my mouth; the texture, flavor, and tenderness of the stake were flawless. "Delicious, it's the finest stake I've ever eaten," I said, and Jack burst out laughing when he saw my face covered in sauce. When I saw him laughing, I thought, "I guy is not bad"
