A PERFECT PLACE

002

"Urgh" I groaned as I tried to sit up. You'd think they'd at least treat their good with respect. Guess not huh? They most definitely tossed me here.

My back was rested against the wall close to what looked like a bedframe?

'At least it has a window.' The pain was still there and it had worsened by now not to mention the headache. This day just keeps getting worse!

Looking around I noticed that I was still in the hotel room,

"Huh? The hell. Did he leave my body here thinking I was dead?" That was the only excuse I could come up with.

I thought I'd at least wake up in the back of a van or the base of some group or some abandoned building or so. What a drag. If you're going to kill me at least do it right dammit!

I couldn't stand up at the moment so all I did was look around, the room was lit up now but it was dark outside...did I fall unconscious for a whole day or was it the same night? Who knew?

The clock on the wall was analogue so I could only see the time. 1:48 pm... I hope Dad is alright.

'Phone...is my phone still here?' I calmed myself down and scanned the room, unfortunately my phone was missing from its previous location.

'So they simply wanted to take the phone?' Something about the situation felt completely off but honestly I was tired and in too much pain to be an investigator.

I needed to get to the front desk.

So I crawled, my legs still refusing to work.

Reaching the door I raised myself, I just had to endure the sting on my back.

"…Its locked." Countless thoughts ran through my mind at that moment. Maybe I hadn't avoided this disaster just yet.

Just then I heard the lock turn, the doorknob releasing to open the door, causing me to fall back to the floor.

I looked up at the large character that now stood before me, then he moved, making way for a tall figure in a green coat standing by the doorway. He had a hat on but… he kind of looked familiar or was I seeing things?

No... This was...this man…The man from the plane!

"Shit!" Don't talk to strangers dad said, should have listened.

Seeing him just standing there with the same pleasant smile, there was a churn in my stomach. I then realized the meeting was never coincidental.

For the first time in a while I felt fear, my complexion paled. Quickly I dragged myself away only to realize there was nowhere to run.

Or… the window?

The large bodyguard of sorts walked past my struggling body to the window side, he didn't close it so I kept going, 'What am I doing, this is futile…' and I knew it, the men watched me in this pitiful desperate display. None of them laughed, none of them felt it pitiful. This was just another day at the job for them.

I got to the window but now what? It was the third floor for crying out loud! If I jumped I would just make their work easier, no? No way I'm doing that!

"Interesting. I'll give you an option."

The man in green took slow and stead steps towards me, seemingly in no hurry.

He seemed to smile but I wasn't quite sure since the warmth seemed misplaced.

He walked forward and bent over, his face inches away from mine.

"Two options actually." He pulled away.

"I see you are quite desperate to live," he found it all so amusing.

"I'm really not such a bad guy so I'll reward your efforts.

"I know all about you and your silly doctor friend. I also know that killing off that useful skill of yours would be a waste, don't you think?"

His eyes were shifty and his expression constantly changing, throwing me off.

"What do you say to my offer? Work for me...or die."

I looked back at him and said nothing. How did he know about that?

"C'mon, I don't have a lot of time to spend here!" He smashed a vase with the cane he held, a devilish grin washing over him as he raised his voice until… It all disappeared like it had never happened. Like I imagined it.

I was too shocked to speak. Too much in fear to answer.

"Sigh… Renn, kill her." he said as walked out of the room. He didn't seem particularly disappointed. In fact it seemed that whether he got her or not was of no benefit to him.

The door was left open, I could see the hallway. I wanted to see more, I wanted to see dad again!

"W-wait!!!"

"I'll do it! I-I mean-n… I'll work for you. So let me live..."

I looked up at the guy at the window, Renn he called him. I was scared. Did I answer too late?

WAS IT REALLY GOING TO END SO EASILY?

NO!!!

I stood up manifesting strength from God knows where, forcing my body to move, as I stumbled about.

I tried to grab the door again but before I could go anywhere he grabbed my hair by the tails and raised me up bending my back in the process

"AHHH! Ah..hh… ahh.." My spittle flew all over my face and the carpets as I tried t endure the pain.

It was so loud that somebody should have heard me, someone heard me right? Was nobody coming to save me?

Little did I know…

So little...
