CHAPTER 10

Jayden's POV

I stride out of the elevator the moment the door dings open, with my new Personal Assistant right behind me.

Her name is Anna and she was recommended by my mother after I told her that my wife-to-be is Isabella and she would no longer be working for me again.

I don't know what my mother thinks of the idea of getting married to Isabella, my Personal Assistant but I have the belief that my plan will work.

I am doing this because of her after all and after a year just like the contract stated, Isabella and I will go our separate ways and that way, my mother will let me be and stop pestering me to get married again, and have kids.

I have a feeling my mother recommended Anna for a reason and I am sure she is one of her friend's daughters.

Anna doesn't look at all like someone who is in dire need of a job. She comes to work with a portable car and she dresses glamorously which makes me wonder why she is here in the first place.

My instinct is telling me that my mother purposely sent her here so I can gain interest in her just like I did with my former Assistant, Isabella but that is out of the question.

I can never fall in love with women like this, no matter how beautiful they can be.

I love living a quiet life and that was how I fell head over heels in love with Helena. She was reserved and antisocial and that was the type of woman I wanted. Not some fake, sophisticated and materialistic woman who will be on my heels for money.

Anna compared to Isabella is quick-witted and smart but I am still not fully convinced with her abilities.

Unlike Isabella, she doesn't share her ideas with me. She goes along with every single thing I say to her.

I can't possibly let Isabella continue to work here which is why I agreed to take my mother's recommendation.

Isabella is going to be my wife in two weeks and it will be unheard of for me to tell the other employees that I will be getting married to my Assistant.

It will be a breach of the law of the company's regulations; no romantic relationship between workers.

This applies to me too and the essence of this rule is to ensure that they all work hand in hand without any distraction or interruptions.

But now that Isabella isn't here anymore, she will be considered my former Assistant and that will ease it all.

I push the door open and walk in. Anna follows behind me calmly with the two files in her hand. She closes the door and I slouch into my swivel chair with a puff.

We are just coming back from an out-of-office meeting and I plan to close the deal this week.

Before the wedding, I plan to sign two more contracts from the company in Singapore requesting a partnership with my Chemical company in Singapore.

This is because my physical presence will be needed and I will have the time to go over to Singapore after the wedding.

Anna drops the file on the desk before me and I sit upright to begin my work before my next appointment which is in the next one hour.

While inputting my password, I notice Anna is still standing in front of me and I look up.

She has a dark lustful look on her face as she stares at me.

I furrow my brows and demand. "Is there a problem?"

I know her presence here is for a reason. I know it.

She blushes red in the face and answers with a tired smile. "No, sir."

"Then, go", I wave her away and continue with my work. I begin to search for the document I want to work on as she moves toward the door.

I notice that the door isn't open after a few minutes and I look up again to catch her staring.

Irritation crosses my expression and I sigh deeply. "Will you get back to work?!"

She jerks upright, apologizes calmly, and leaves.

How can a girl be this shameless? She is apparently looking for ways to get my attention and seduce me. I can't work with people like this who like to be distracted at every slightest thing.

If she continues this way, I will have no choice but to dismiss her. I don't care what my mother thinks about it.

Hissing loudly, I go back to my work.

I never had any cause to shout at Isabella for losing concentration. The only thing I don't like about her is her clumsiness which annoys me greatly.

I hate it.

If my mother thinks I would like Anna by bringing her here so she could be close to me then she is wrong.

I see no difference between Anna and the lady Gabriel and his wife got for me who was insisting on a sexual relationship with me.

I don't want any of that.

Sex is the last thing on my mind at the moment and I don't plan on letting go of my celibacy life anytime soon.

A knock comes on the door, stopping me from going through the content of the document further, even though I am a bit distracted by the current happenings in my life.

"Who is it?" I ask and the door opens to reveal Anna who is peeping.

A frown teases my lips and I am about to ask her what she is doing here again after I had told her to get back to work and stop looking at me when she speaks up.

"Sorry to interrupt, sir. Someone is here to see you", she announces to my hearing and I arch a brow at her in question.

"Someone is here to see me? Is it time for our appointment?"

She enters fully. "No, sir."

"The person doesn't have an appointment?" I ask to be sure.

"Yes, sir. She said it is important she saw you", she declares and my frown deepens making me wonder who it is.

"Haven't I told you times without numbers not to let anyone in here unless he or she has an appointment? My next appointment is in an hour..."

"I'm sorry sir but she said something about your former Assistant. She said she is a friend of your former Assistant", she cuts me short.

Confusion skates my expression. I am wondering what Isabella's friend is doing here. What is she here for?

"Isabella's friend?" She nods. "What does she want?"

"She didn't say, sir."

I sigh and lean backward so I can get it done before going back to work. I hate distractions or getting interrupted while I am at work. "Let her in."

She bows her head respectfully and goes out.

A few minutes later, someone knocks on the door again, and I grant her permission to enter.

She comes in, glancing around my office with admiration and lips parted. She is wearing a slim-fitted black skirt and white sneakers with a white blouse. Her hair is packed in a bun and she approaches my desk with a smile.

Her face doesn't look familiar. She has a lot of makeup on her face and she looks like a party girl.

I wonder how Isabella became friends with her. These two people are living two opposite lives.

Remembering that I saw Isabella at a party the other day, I concluded within me that this must be the friend she went to the party with.

"Hello, Mr. Russell", she beams with a smile and she examines me.

"Hi, Miss..."

"I am Juliet, Isabella's best friend", she mutters with pride.

"I see", I say nonchalantly. "What can I do for you?"

"Won't you offer me a seat?" She grins broadly.

"Please sit", I point towards the chair and she moves close and flops in, still glancing around as if she has never been to a place like this before.

"What can I do for you?" I ask her again.

I am curious to know what she is here for because of Isabella's name which she mentioned and I also can't wait to get done with her and go back to my work before my next appointment.

"I heard from Isabella that you need a wife", she begins and I continue to watch in surprise.

Isabella told her? Is that why she is here?

"I am ready to do that, even if you need a wife for a hundred years, I can be that woman, you have no cause to worry, I'll deliver more than you expect."

I raise my hand. "Is that why you are here?"

She looks confused. "Yes. Aren't you looking for a wife?" She flashes me a smile.

"Not anymore, please leave", I say finally.

This issue isn't worth my time. Even if I don't have someone already, I will never take her.

"Why are you so harsh? Why can't you just kindly tell me?"

I ignore her and drag a file out of my drawer before flipping through with my right and my left hand on the desk.

She touches me and I fling her hands away, staring daggers at her.

"I said you get out, didn't I?!"

She scowls at me. "Isabella was right, you are so full of yourself. You are arrogant, rude, stubborn, and difficult. I shouldn't have come here. I won't be surprised if you don't get a wife with this silly behavior of yours."

"She told you all of that but she forgot to brief you on the most important one", I catch her attention and her gaze is fixed upon me as she rises. "She forgot to tell you that she is the wife I am getting married to."

"What?" she exclaims loudly.

"Yes", I yell at her angrily. "Get out now before I call the securities on you."

"Why didn't she tell me?" She asks herself.

"Isn't it obvious that you are not worth it? Get the hell out of here already", I touch the intercom with a threatening gaze.

She looks angry and she turns away from me immediately before storming to the door.

I am disappointed in Isabella. I can't believe she told her friend all these things about me.

Why the hell did she spill out the content of the contract and the reason for my actions? Isn't this supposed to be between us? Why did she have to tell this chatterbox of a girl?

I am mad at her. Irritated. Disappointed.

She is going to hear from me. I am going to deal with her.
