A World Where Humans Don't Exist

Ashley had everything in her grasp. Love, Status and Popularity; she couldn't ask for more. That was until… One night, on her way home from her friend's party, she was caught in a car accident. Her life was turned upside down. She became comatose and was later in a vegetative state. She was in that condition for three years. Her friends who she thought were her pillars of support left her. Her boyfriend left her for her friend. What hurt her the most was that her family was breaking apart primarily because of her. She lost everything overnight. Everyone already anticipated her death and believed that she wouldn't recover. Why wouldn't they? The doctors said she was almost brain-dead. That was what they thought... In fact, Ashley knew everything. She was just trapped inside her own body. After three years of enduring, life gave her a chance. A silver streak that made her hope that everything would be fixed and she could go back to her once-perfect life. Instead, she is sent to another world. Only to come out of a box and serve as a prize for an annual tournament. More confusing was the fact that this world seemed to be a fantasy world were vampires, werewolves and other creatures dwelled. It was a world where humans never existed. ******* WFP #11: Bronze tier Note: This is a slow burn novel. Embodiment of Lightning

A shadow appeared among the clouds. The figure could be seen hovering in the air. From time to time, it would transform into a streak of light, like it was bouncing mid-air. The moonlight lit the figure revealing the person's identity.

As it turns out, it was Ramier, who was transforming to a streak of lightning as he flew with the wind.

The direction he was heading towards was to the East. Carefully jumping through the buildings and notifying the imperial guards as he passed the Palace's borders. The guards who were stationed to that part of the Palace's borders only looked at the sky as they saw the ray of light flickering with a fast speed. They were aware that it was their Emperor.

It seems that he will be taking care of the power source again. For the direction he was advancing was towards the restricted forest where the power plant was located. Some of the new guards who were stationed at the border saw the scene for the first time. They couldn't help but gasp in awe.

So this was the Emperor of Altria, he was truly the embodiment of lightning.

The guards, who witnessed this phenomenon, sympathised with them. They too had the same reaction as the new guards, before. It was indeed amazing seeing it for yourself rather than hearing them from gossips.

The Emperors scarcely revealed the nature of their powers. Some even never showed their abilities throughout their entire reign. It was amazing how their current Emperor found a way to make use of his abilities to fuel the livelihood of the people. He invented the power plant himself which was based on a legacy item they received from a century ago. Since then, the lives of the people were never the same.

The Emperor would recharge the energy source once in fifty years. Sometimes, it would last longer than expected. Sometimes, it would be the complete opposite.

One of the new guard's eyes twinkled as he gazed on the streaked of light that was getting farther and farther. It looked like a comet just descended into Prux. It looked amazing and terrifying at the same time. Obviously when touched, one would definitely explode. An intense energy came from the streak of light, it could even be felt from where they stood. The air around it was even generating sparks.

Beautiful yet deadly... That was the perfect way to describe it.

No... It was him...the Emperor

"I...can't believe it." the guard said unconsciously, making those around him nod in agreement.

"Me too..." another one of his comrades said.

Their superior who heard them only shook his head. This happened each time their Emperor would reveal his ability. If they saw the sky later, what would their reaction be like? They weren't supposed to act like this. After all, they were imperial guards. However, the superior didn't scold them.

"That is the Emperor, blessed by Amilia, himself... He possesses tremendous power." he said. "You will see more of this, in the future. Do not fret. Our majesty is only heading towards the power source."

The guards nodded their heads and saw that the streak had already disappeared. They went back to their posts. Their hearts still trembled from the tremors of the previous sight.

Meanwhile, Ramier was already far away from the Palace. Transforming back to his original form, he could grasp the location of where he was. The plateau from where the whole Palace stood was already tiny in his sight. Below him was a vast expanse of trees and mountains. There were cliffs and nothing could be spotted, other than the thick forest.

The restricted forests...

A place exclusive only to him.

Not far away was a mountain, who at its peak had a giant tower of metal and wires connected to it. The massive iron tower was buried to the ground. It was relatively huge with wires extending to the direction of the Palace. The mountain was almost devoid of any trees or plants. It was dry soil. The only place where life was present was to its base, where a few trees stood.

When he spotted the tower, he immediately transformed into lightning once again and aimed his body to the mountain's peak.

Thud.

The ground shook when he hit it. There was a hole formed after he landed, indicating how great the impact of his landing was. Some cracks were even created on the surface.

He raised his head to see the tip of the tower where he saw the dim sky and stars above.

He raised his hand... Not wanting to waste anymore time... Afterall, this would take him an hour to finish. Moreover, he was afraid he would really destroy all the trees in the mountain, even affecting the surrounding areas. He didn't want to destroy the forests. None of that would be his intention.

The clouds above Ramier started to rumble. Streaks of lightning started to disperse around the tower. Thunder clouds gathered and the sounds made, reverberated.

The sounds were deafening. However, this doesn't seem to have concerned Ramier for he stood there not even moving an inch of his body. He was completely relaxed, not afraid that the lightning might strike him.

The hand which was raised, suddenly clenched.

BOOM.

The lightning hit the tip of the tower, making it look like there was an explosion that occurred. Afterwards, bolts of lightning followed and struck the tower. There were sparks and the area close to him managed to have created an electric field.

At that moment, one of the lightning rays managed to have missed the tower and changed it's trajectory. The stray lightning was heading towards Ramier's location.

Aware of the incoming bolt, he didn't move from his place.
