A World Where Humans Don't Exist

Ashley had everything in her grasp. Love, Status and Popularity; she couldn't ask for more. That was until… One night, on her way home from her friend's party, she was caught in a car accident. Her life was turned upside down. She became comatose and was later in a vegetative state. She was in that condition for three years. Her friends who she thought were her pillars of support left her. Her boyfriend left her for her friend. What hurt her the most was that her family was breaking apart primarily because of her. She lost everything overnight. Everyone already anticipated her death and believed that she wouldn't recover. Why wouldn't they? The doctors said she was almost brain-dead. That was what they thought... In fact, Ashley knew everything. She was just trapped inside her own body. After three years of enduring, life gave her a chance. A silver streak that made her hope that everything would be fixed and she could go back to her once-perfect life. Instead, she is sent to another world. Only to come out of a box and serve as a prize for an annual tournament. More confusing was the fact that this world seemed to be a fantasy world were vampires, werewolves and other creatures dwelled. It was a world where humans never existed. ******* WFP #11: Bronze tier Note: This is a slow burn novel. Are you ready?

Averting her gaze elsewhere, she pretended that she didn't do anything slowly while secretly massaging her aching arms. It was because she was aware that Ramier was waiting for her. He was staring at her for seconds now. He sized her up with a questioning look.

She stopped her actions and had her hands to the side while forcing a smile. He still didn't move his gaze away from those arms of hers. He wasn't convinced. Knowing that he was already suspecting something she decided to start a conversation to divert his attention.

"So I-I assume that we're here?" she said.

He averted his glance to her face and saw an indescribable smile. He didn't know if she was smiling because she was happy or it was the absolute opposite.  He was slowly getting what this was about. He couldn't believe that he only took his eyes off her for a second and she immediately hurt herself. He didn't even see anything she could use to hurt herself with. Seeing that they were wasting time, he answered his question and discarded the urge to question her.

" Yes, this Museum is divided into two rooms. The room next to the room we're in, is where the legacies are stored." he explained calmly. "Don't worry, it's not far from here."

He turned around and resumed his pace. Ashley breathed out a sigh of relief. She would be seriously embarrassed if he knew the stupid thing she did just now.

She got scammed! That door—It was his fault for making it look so easy.

But thanks to that, she calmed down a little bit. The pain in her hands actually relaxed her nerves that was tensed all this time. She looked at Ramier's broad back before scanning her gaze around the area.

'Woah. Cool..'

Her eyes widened with amazement. If the first to fourth chambers were filled with jewels and expensive items, this room of the museum was filled with weapons and armour. There were also some tools and maps secured in glass cases and gold stands. It could be said that this was more of a war chamber than a part of a museum. If not for the glass cases and racks made of precious furniture she would mistake this as the castle's armory.

Some of the armours were worn out, but regardless, it still looked cool in her eyes. She couldn't help but halt her steps and stare at a particular chest plate. It was made out of black steel. It was just simple. It looked sturdy and heavy but overall, it was majestic. It gave her a feeling that the one who wore it before must've been a legend in the battlefield. She felt like she was back in her world, as a kid on a field trip to the museum.

Ramier stopped on his tracks and followed Ashley's line of sight. He noticed she was staring at an ancient chest plate. He couldn't help but also stare at it. He remembered the information  regarding the armour, taught to him when he was still being guided to his royal duties.

That chest plate was owned by his ancestor who fought side by side with the goddess Amilia. He was the reason while their bloodline was granted power by Amilia. Amilia also gave Altria for him to lead. He was crowned as the first Emperor of Altria before the goddess left.

He cleared his throat snapping Ashley from her daze.

"I'm sorry.. I just thought it was beautiful." she said shyly.

Ramier smiled. "Yes. It is.." He turned around and continued to walk to the last room.

Sensing that they were near the room where she badly wanted to see, her calm heart beated rapidly once again. She inhaled deeply and picked up her pace. He stopped his steps partially when he heard her breathing.

"Are you ready?" he asked as he stared at her nervous face.

"Yes.." she responded. Her throat felt dry.

Step.

Step.

Step.

Each step of his added the fuel to her iheart like it was a race car. Finally, he halted his steps.

He turned to an opening and entered. Ashley quickly followed him. She couldn't describe what she felt at the moment when she saw where they were heading. They entered a room that was half as wide as the previous room. There were at least a hundred tall shelves arranged in order. Each shelf had twelve rows.  And there were boxes of different sizes, covered with gold linen placed on the shelves.

Ashley didn't know how many boxes each shelf contained but looking at the never ending number of boxes, she wanted to faint.

Should she inspect all of these boxes? Not that she was being lazy or something but... That's a thousand years worth of legacies they had in there. Some weren't even in Altria. The other legacies were also in Ladell and in the Temple.

Though this wasn't all of it. It was still a lot. And the shelves extended to the ceilings. They were built-in. Luckily there was a ladder.

This was obviously a piece of work. She doesn't know if she can finish it the whole day or not. But she hoped she would, after all it was still early.

She walked towards one of the shelves and looked at Ramier.

"Can I..?" she hesitantly asked.

Ramier nodded and watched her. She reached out to get a box from the shelf she went to, carefully holding the box with trembling hands. Gently placing it on a nearby table like a newborn baby.

She exhaled deeply. Her hands were shaking as she reached out to remove the golden cloth. When she removed it, a small wooden box was revealed. It didn't have a lock which made her relieved. It was simple but it was obviously expensive. She reached out to gently touch the lid of the box, slowly lifting it up.

Her breath hitched when she was almost finished opening the box. She slightly closed her eyes and in a slight pull, revealed the box open. But what she saw secured in the box rendered her completely speechless. Her face absolutely flustered, she didn't care if her mouth was hanging open.

'What the?'

She brought the item closer to her face and started to observe it over and over again to make sure if the item in front of her was really what it was supposed to be.

No. This can't be right...

But it is actually a—

She glanced at Ramier to see his expressionless face and back to the thing she was holding. This…

The thing inside the expensive box was..

... a soda can?
