A World Where Humans Don't Exist

Ashley had everything in her grasp. Love, Status and Popularity; she couldn't ask for more. That was until… One night, on her way home from her friend's party, she was caught in a car accident. Her life was turned upside down. She became comatose and was later in a vegetative state. She was in that condition for three years. Her friends who she thought were her pillars of support left her. Her boyfriend left her for her friend. What hurt her the most was that her family was breaking apart primarily because of her. She lost everything overnight. Everyone already anticipated her death and believed that she wouldn't recover. Why wouldn't they? The doctors said she was almost brain-dead. That was what they thought... In fact, Ashley knew everything. She was just trapped inside her own body. After three years of enduring, life gave her a chance. A silver streak that made her hope that everything would be fixed and she could go back to her once-perfect life. Instead, she is sent to another world. Only to come out of a box and serve as a prize for an annual tournament. More confusing was the fact that this world seemed to be a fantasy world were vampires, werewolves and other creatures dwelled. It was a world where humans never existed. ******* WFP #11: Bronze tier Note: This is a slow burn novel. The romance would happen eventually but it would develop over the following chapters (even the smut *hehe). Disclaimer: Images used are not mine. A Woman from the 21st Century

Ashley opened her eyes as she awakened from her sleep. She couldn't help but notice that she was feeling better compared to these past few days. Ramier's promise to her last night was the reason why the distress, she was feeling, dissipated. Surprisingly, her mood was well. She felt a bit more peaceful. The weather seemed to incline with her emotions. For It was very sunny, ideal to go outside for a stroll. She wasn't sure if she could go outside. But if she didn't, what would she do inside her room all day? She'll die with boredom.

She was able to endure not doing anything for the past days as she was always finding ways to escape, as well as going to the treasury. Now that her mind somewhat cleared up, she realized how tedious staying in her room is and couldn't help but look for something to do. More like, somewhere to go...

A scene from two nights ago flashed in her mind. A place came to her mind, it was a place she really wanted to return to. It was the Rose garden that she saw when she attempted to escape. It was a shame she didn't enjoy the view from it. She didn't quite see what it looked like because it was only illuminated by the moonlight and was preoccupied with escaping at that time. If she only knew she would fail, she would've just spent her night there. She can already imagine how beautiful it is during the day.

She decided that she will go to that place later. But first, she'll ask permission if it's okay to go there. Afterall, this was the palace and although reality sucks, she was just a freeloader. However, there was no other person to ask permission tot rather than the head court lady. She knew that Ramier would be busy right now, for he accompanied her the whole day yesterday.

She then reached for the bell placed at the table near her bed and rang it. The servants came knocking on her door the next moment.

Ashley started to feel awkward. Were they okay with this arrangement? Cause she isn't though... There were a lot of things that she could do all by herself. She also didn't want to be treated like a princess.

Not to mention, she wasn't even one. She was just a guest if she may add. She was also useless. She was basically a stranger from another dimension and them doing everything for her, was making her feel awkward...worse is the right word. It made her feel guilty.

She realized that she had to talk to Ramier and tell him that having servants around her was unnecessary. She also wanted to ask him what she could do. Like a job or something. She didn't mind working as a Palace maid but she knew that he wouldn't agree. She was afterall, a legacy. But she really wanted to contribute something or she would forever feel indebted to him.

She also realized another problem. She couldn't understand their writings. She couldn't read! She also doesn't know anything about their customs. She basically doesn't know anything. Though she watches historical films where it showed the typical everyday life of noblemen and women, it was still different.

Her head throbbed when she realized that she needed to fully adjust to their traditions. Especially since she was a woman from the 21st century, she was bolder and would do things that were against the norm.

There was also the word.. Etiquette. Obviously she didn't have anything of that sort. She was carefree. Always wanted to be free like a bird. She didn't want traditions and common beliefs to prevent her from expressing herself.

And her social life? She'll worry about that later. She didn't think it was necessary. she didn't plan to have a lot of friends anyway. What happened to her before already served as her lesson.

She massaged her temples. Just thinking about the possible problems she might face, gave her a headache. She was already grieving for her mishaps.

'Goodluck fitting in!'

Just as she was about to stand up from her bed, the door opened and out came the head court lady with her signature rbf. She looked at Ashley with displeasure. Ashley was currently sitting on the bed with messy hair and her face was a bit puffy which made her look unkempt. The head court lady found this utterly inappropriate for a lady. Her disappointment really went downhill when it came to her. She was the personification of the word INAPPROPRIATE. Her blood couldn't help but boil.

Ashley wondered why she was always looking at her like that.

'This is one of the reasons why I hate having servants around..' she thought.

Seriously the head court lady's distaste for Ashley was supperrr obvious that no matter how dense she is, she would feel it. Imagine waking up positively in the morning only to be greeted by the head court lady's grumpy face, it would affect someone's mood.

Ashley finished the whole process of taking a bath and changing her clothes under the head court lady's scrutiny. Though she already took a bath, she still felt the sweat that built up on her forehead. She wasn't even outside yet!

When they were done, she hesitated if she should ask the head court lady if she could go outside. The head court lady along with the servants were just about to leave when Ashley stopped them.

"Uh..Forgive me if I may ask but am I allowed to go outside this room?" she asked politely. She didn't want the head court lady to throw another hateful stare at her for being disrespectful.

The head court lady looked at her as if she was dumb. It was such a stupid question. Were they even treating her like a prisoner? They never did anything like that.

"We have no right to interfere with the lady's wishes.." she said before turning around to leave, showing that she has no interest in her request nor does she care for her wellbeing. The servants only cast down their heads as they were exiting, leaving Ashley completely speechless. Her face contorted when she recovered from the shock.

Hey! She was seriously getting on her nerves. She asked because she didn't know right? It was just a simple yes or no question. Why did she have to answer like that and show her a b*tchy attitude.

It just been days since she arrived here and she's already got an enemy without even doing anything.

She sighed and calmed her state of mind.

But that meant yes.. Right?

(A/N: rbf short for resting b*tch face.)
