The System

The goddess looked at Kardo with a serious expression and said, "Kardo, you must use your talent as a rogue. It is what you are good at, and it will be the key to your survival here in Faerindor."

As Kardo listened to the goddess's words, he felt a sense of relief wash over him. He had always been a rogue at heart, and it seemed that this world would give him the opportunity to truly embrace that side of himself. But he is still thinking, "Is it right to be a thief here?"

Kardo looked at her in confusion and said, "I don't know anything about this world; how can I survive?"

The goddess smiled gently and said, "That is why I gave you this." She reached out and handed him a crystal that shone brightly. "This crystal will help you become stronger, and it will guide you in your journey."

Kardo's eyes widen as the crystal flies out of the goddess's hand and enters his own body. He feels a warm sensation spread throughout his entire being, and he suddenly sees a glowing interface in front of him.

The goddess explains, "This is the system of the crystal. Only you can see it, and it will show you all of your abilities, skills, attributes, inventory, and the map of your location. It will also give you quests, and if you fulfill them, you will be rewarded with items and experience to help you get stronger."

Kardo is amazed by the crystal, and he feels a strange energy flowing through him. He then notices that he can see things that he couldn't see before. The map of the location he is in suddenly appears in his mind, as well as his health points, mana points, and other attributes.

The goddess tells Kardo that this crystal will help him on his journey and that he should use it wisely. She also tells him that he must be careful, as there are many dangers in this world, and he must always be aware of his surroundings.

Kardo nods slowly, still taking in the overwhelming information. "What kind of quests will I receive?"

The goddess smiles mysteriously. "That depends on your path, Kardo. As a rogue, you'll be tasked with missions that require your unique set of skills."

Kardo's mind races with the possibilities. "How do I acquire abilities and learn skills?"

"Some abilities and skills are already within you," the goddess replied with a serious tone. "But to learn new things, you must study them."

Kardo listens intently as the goddess explains how he can learn new skills. He nods along, trying to absorb as much information as he can.

"So, I can learn new skills by reading books or tomes?" he repeats, seeking clarification.

"Yes, that's correct," the goddess replies with a gentle smile. "There are many different types of books and tomes that contain knowledge about different skills and abilities. You can find them in libraries, hidden vaults, and even in the possession of other adventurers."

Kardo nods, taking mental notes. "And how about learning from experience or being taught by others?"

"Both of those are also valid ways of learning new skills," the goddess answers. "By going on quests and facing different challenges, you will naturally gain experience and learn new things. And by finding a mentor or joining a guild, you can learn from others who have more knowledge and experience than you."

Kardo nods again, feeling a sense of excitement and eagerness to explore this new world and all its possibilities.

"And what about leveling up my skills?" he asks. "You mentioned that the system can help me with that."

The goddess nods. "Yes, the system has the ability to track your progress and give you instructions on how to improve your skills. As you gain more experience and use your skills more often, the system will recognize your efforts and reward you with increased proficiency."

Kardo nods, feeling a sense of satisfaction knowing that there are clear ways for him to improve and get stronger in this world.

Kardo nodded, trying to take it all in. "So, how do I access the system?" he asked.

The goddess reached out her hand and touched Kardo's forehead. A bright light enveloped him, and when it faded, Kardo felt something different. He looked at his hands and saw a glowing interface floating in front of him.

"This is your system interface," the goddess said. "You can access it anytime by focusing on it. It will show you all of the information you need to know about your journey."

Kardo looked at the system interface in awe and exclaimed, "This is amazing! It's like a game that I used to play in computer shops when I was young."

The goddess smiled and nodded in agreement. "Yes, the system has some similarities to those games. It helps you keep track of your progress and gives you rewards for your accomplishments. But remember, this is not a game. This is your reality now. You must take it seriously."

Kardo nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Goddess, is there anyone else out there who has a system like I do?" he asked.

The goddess regarded him with a solemn expression. "I'm sorry, Kardo, but that is not something I can answer," she said.

Kardo furrowed his brow. "Why not? Is it a secret or something?"

"It's not a matter of secrecy, Kardo," the goddess replied. "It's just that the system is unique to each individual who receives it. It is not something that can be shared or duplicated."

The goddess smiled gently at Kardo, sensing the confusion and curiosity that he still held within him. "I can sense that you have many more questions," she said, "but I'm afraid this is all I can tell you for now. The answers will come to you in due time, when you are ready to receive them."

Kardo looked at the goddess, feeling both frustrated and relieved at the same time. He wanted to know more about this new world he was in, about the system that now governed his abilities and skills, and about the people and creatures that inhabited this land. But he also knew that the goddess was right and that some things couldn't be rushed.

"Thank you," he said to the goddess, "for everything you've done for me."

The goddess gazed at Kardo, her eyes burning with intensity as she spoke with urgency. "Remember, Kardo," she warned, "the world you're in is not a simple one. There are those who will seek to use you, manipulate you, or worse. Be cautious in whom you place your trust, and always keep your wits about you."

Kardo nodded, feeling the weight of her words. He knew that this world was vastly different from his own, and he couldn't afford to be naive. "I understand," he said, his voice steady.

The goddess nodded in response before her form began to dissipate, swirling into a column of smoke that soon vanished into the ether. Kardo was left alone, standing in the void, his thoughts racing.

As he tried to process everything that had happened, Kardo suddenly found himself jolted awake.

Kardo slowly opened his eyes, still unsure whether the encounter with the goddess was real or just a figment of his imagination. Blinking rapidly, he looked around, taking in his surroundings. He rubbed his eyes, trying to clear his thoughts, and then he remembered the system.

Kardo sat up, still feeling a little disoriented. The experience he'd just had with the goddess had felt almost too real, and he couldn't shake the feeling that there was still so much he didn't understand about the world he now found himself in.

He closed his eyes and felt the energy flowing through him. When he opened his eyes again, he saw a strange interface in front of him.

The interface was translucent and showed various options and information. There was a section that showed his health and mana, as well as his level and experience points. There were also tabs for skills, inventory, maps, and quests.

Kardo's eyes widened as he realized that the system was real.

But for now, he knew he had to focus on the present, on the reality of his new surroundings. He stood up and walked to the window, gazing out at the unfamiliar city beyond. The goddess's words echoed in his mind, and he knew he had to be careful in this new world.
