Lu Tian felt a strong urge to scream. He could not believe that getting close to her will warrant such a reaction from her. he had tried to stay away from her to respect her private space but he did not know what pulled him close to her and caused this chaos.

This had to be one of the worst days for him in the past decade.

Listening to the murmurs of the few people who had come out of the room, Lu Tian moved away from her and walked into the clubroom. When they returned to the room, he was gone.

Whispers and small talks about what happened continued in the room even after Lin Jing left with her fiancé to rest. She was pale when they left the room.

Ruoruo was so worried and held unto her sister's arm with her brow furrowed. Shen Yan kept his cool but he was fuming deep within.

He was shocked to see her in the state she was and he felt a strong urge to protect the damsel in distress. She looked like her throat was about to get slit when LU Tian got close to her.

He was very understanding about her situation. She almost died simply because she helped him and she was threatened too. her reaction when they met outside the hotel was more shocking than the reaction he saw.

He concluded that she was okay with meeting Lu Tian because other people were there but when they were alone, she must have gotten so scared.

She almost died from the beatings and it must have been very traumatizing for her.

Lin Jing went to the bathroom as soon as they arrived in her apartment, that man did not let her empty her bladder when she wanted to and she had to hold it in because of him for so long.

When she got out of the restroom after washing her face with warm water, she saw Shen Yan sitting in the living room. he stood up as soon as she walked into the living room and walked toward her.

"Are you okay?" he asked her worriedly as he raised his hand to touch her forehead.

"Yes, I am," she nodded letting him place the back of his hand against her forehead and only pulling away when he was satisfied with her temperature. She smiled shyly.

"I did not know you were going to react that way," he murmured as he watched her trying not to miss any detail in her beautiful face.

"I am sorry I caused you so much trouble. I did not know why I heard to scream. I only thought of the threat I received. That is so unlike me," she apologized sincerely with a slight bow.

He held her to stop her from blowing completely. "You should take care of yourself," he advised her.

She nodded feeling embarrassed. "I am sorry. I am . . ."

"It is okay, we would have not heard you if your sister had not told me she wanted to find you. The place was soundproofed and we would have not heard you scream if we were not at the door," he told her worriedly as though he was imagining what would have happened to her if they had not found her early enough.

"You should see a doctor so that you won't have a panic attack of that sort next time," he added afterward.

She nodded.

"I also know you feel embarrassed about what happened but you should not. My club members will not blame you for what happened and they will not find what happened a disturbance. I have even received a few text messages from them asking about you.

"Most of them know what happens to women that get close to Lu Tian and they must have guessed that you are a victim. So, you are not going to be blamed, okay?"

She nodded again avoiding his gaze with embarrassment.

He gave her a gentle pat on her shoulder before leaving. When he closed the door, she fell on a sofa and exhaled.

"I never knew I will get so panicky," she complained when her sister entered the living room.

"You are lucky it did not go beyond that. at least he did not touch you which means you are not going to get killed anytime soon," her sister told her with a very slight trace of mockery in her voice.

"I am never going to get killed. I will die when my time is right," Lin Jing argued as she sat up and glared at her sister.

"Says the person who hangs out around dangerous people," Ruoruo had to give her sister a direct answer.

Lin Jing's lips parted to say something but she paused and pressed her lips together.

"Argue with me if you have a point to offer," Ruoruo invited her sister to a debate session.

Lin Jing shook her head and snatched the glass of water her sister held. "He scared the life out of me, you be petting me and I embarrassed myself," Lin Jing complained with a slight pout.

"I have done that already. You have been given sweets now it is time for some bitter tonics," Ruoruo argued.

"No, you should give the tonic first before the drink. You would have gotten someone else why chose someone close to Lu Tian?"

"I guess you need the power to defeat power. What would happen if they don't believe my relationship?" Lin Jing inquired.

"Nothing, you simply need to stay away from him. His therapy sessions were almost over and you could avoid him," Ruoruo supposed in displeasure.

"I believe in my charm. What makes you think he would have not come to look for me? When he does, I would most likely have died, and have you ever seen me date a powerless man?

"You should not be asking me such questions because I have always told you that you will understand it when you get older or it is even best that you never understand it.

"And he is handsome," she added after a few seconds of silence as she was thinking. "He is the ideal guy for a woman like me. I have ambitions and so does he. We make a good pair, don't we?"

"I don't think so. The club members are also . . . I don't know . . . I felt weird in their presence. I don't think they are a simple club," Ruoruo told her sister worriedly.

"You should stay away from all their club members; they are all dangerous. The fact that one of them is my fiancé can never make me a permanent member," Lin Jing warned her sister seriously. "As you said, they are weird so you must stay away."
