Ch 19. Moment of respite

Perish looked around. Her body was beginning to loosen up a bit. Sniffing the air, she found the spot which had Kaz's scent strong in their air. She looked around and noticed something strange. There was blood in the air floating there. She went to touch it and felt something solid and cold. Reaching down, she tried poking around and noticed it was muscle and scales. "Kaz.."

"Yea?"

"Are you invisible right now?"

"…yea."

She looked surprised and grabbed him to hug his invisible body. "Quick, let me see you. I want to make sure you're alright!"

"I'm not entirely sure how to." Kaz was breathing hard as he tried his hardest to move. Her embrace felt warm to his skin, and it felt good. The strength in his body slowly came back. Looking down at his ring, he tried rubbing it again. Suddenly Kaz appeared in front of her. She gasped when she saw all the wounds that had accumulated on his body and face. "Oh, Kaz, you need to get to my hut. We have to patch you up right away!"

The worry in her voice was cute. She sounded so worried about him. He collapsed in her arms, and when he awoke, he was in her bed wrapped in bandages with green and red paste covering most of his body. A message popped up in front of him.

"RECOVERY INCREASED BY 2 for 1 hour."

"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED- Defeat the hunter that is attacking the Greyfang tribe."

"Reward- 4 Character points, Title- Protector of Greyfang."

"Would you like to add the title to your status bar?"

Kaz looked at the message weakly and clicked the yes button. He was not sure what a title would grant him. He knew that titles usually came with a power boost and a social boost when equipped.

"TITLE EQUIP- Protector of Greyfang. +1 Strength, + 1 Dexterity +100 fame with the GreyFang tribe."

That was surprising, a fame bonus. I guess there are factions in this world that he could become allies with. He needed to check his status and see what changed. There must have been quite a bit.

Quite a bit has changed since he last looked at his sheet. He was feeling a little more confident in his stats, but he needed to know what each of them did. He increased his strength, but he still had trouble moving, and he increased his Dexterity, but his recovery did not go up. Perhaps he needs to improve his recovery separately to raise his endurance. But what about that abysmal Beauty stat? Was it even useful? He seemed to do just fine without it. His skill list was starting to fill out nicely. Maybe he could improve some of them, but honestly, every point he had was valuable. He had to damn near kill himself to earn the four measly points he just received.

Peter noticed Kaz was awake and rushed over to him. "How are you feeling, hero?"

Kaz laughed a little and coughed as his pain came back. Perish grabbed the bandages and began replacing the old ones on his body, adding the paste with it. "Do you still hurt?"

"Yea, a little, but your medicine is helping numb it."

"That's good, I am glad!"

Sarah walked into the hut with a bag of herbs. She saw Kaz sitting up and smiled. "Thank you so much for bringing Perish back. Or well, uh, she brought you back, but she told me you helped her out."

Nodding, Kaz, looked around to see his friends were all happy and healthy. Perish had some bandages on her chest and arms, but she was still moving around like normal. "Shouldn't you be recovering as well Perish?"

"I'll be fine; this is nothing compared to what I dealt with in the tribe."

The Tribe, he still did not know much about them, but he did know he probably wasn't going to like them if he ever met them. It was a shame too. He would have loved to add a tribe of werewolves to his army. But maybe it was best that he not start his army just yet. He still needed to cross the border and reach the other side.

Today was going to be a day of recovery. Perhaps increasing recovery a bit would be a good idea. He opened up his character sheet once more and added in 2 points to recovery.

"That should do it." Kaz sighed as his body loosened up, and felt so much better. Everyone started chatting about random events and about what to do next. Kaz was so happy to be around such good friends. He was going to do everything in his power to make sure they were safe. If he was going to build a nation, he needed reliable and dedicated leaders.
