More Questions Than Answers

Mathews Pov

The next morning...

I get up early to go talk to mom about doing a Christmas party. It's early but I know she will be awake. As I walk up to the door I smile because mom is already waiting there with the door open.

"Good morning son, Tim said you might want to talk today. Come inside I already have some coffee on."

"When did you talk to Tim? And yes I wanted to talk to you."

"He linked me last night after you got that other pack settled. Now sit down and drink your coffee. What do you want to talk about?"

"Okay well I was thinking about doing a large Christmas party next weekend. I know you used to do them when you were Luna so I wanted to get your opinion on it."

"First of all I think that is a great idea. You don't want to stop all traditions just because we have a new Alpha. And would this have anything to do with your young lady?"

"Mom I am at a loss, I can tell she is human or at least for the most part but I know she doesn't feel the mate bond."

"Wait what do you mean by human for the most part? What aren't you telling me?"

"That's just it mom I don't know. I would like to introduce her to our pack doctors and have them run some tests, because when I'm around her I can feel something but it feels repressed or hidden some how. She sees herself as human so I believe whatever is going on she has no clue. But I don't know how to get her to the doctor without everything coming out far to soon."

"Well son I'm not sure how to help with this. I couldn't feel a wolf when we met her so I don't know. You say she doesn't feel the bond, I think your wrong there. I do know she is attracted to you. She told me herself she thought you were cute."

"That is good. I will figure out the rest after I get the Luna from the other pack settled and help her find her sister. I'm sending Tim in later this morning to set up the cake and other stuff for the party. I want as much done before the end of the day as possible. I don't know who you used to decorate the place so can you please help me with that? I'm thinking we have the party Sunday, what do you think?"

"Of course son, that sounds perfect to me. I think it would be nice to do a gift exchange at the party as well. Don't worry I will set that up as well. You already know who you will exchange with. I will call Edith And let her know about it. I will also set up a potluck type thing And the pack members can each bring a side dish while we provide the meat. And as far as the cake and things go make it a four tier cake, at least six dozen pastries, and when Ellen was here she said she was going to make candy so add that to the list."

"Thank you mom I will get this set up first then I am going to work with the Luna. If you need anything link me okay."

After that I go back to the pack house, in my office I write out my order for Aunt Edith. I make sure to follow mom's instructions then I link Tim to take it to the bakery and I tell him to invite both of them to the party. After that I work on pack business while I wait for the Luna to come in. Not long after I start work there is a knock at the door. I tell the person to come in and see that it is indeed the Luna. She sits down in the chair across from me and waits while I finish the paper I'm working on. Once I'm done I put it in the out box on my desk and look up at her.

"Alright Luna I think it's time you answer my questions from last night. I asked you several times who your sister was and you always avoided the answer, why is that?"

"Because I am scared, my sister and I did not part ways well. When I found my mate I left her with Edith, I didn't take her feelings into account. We lost our parents to rogues when we were young and Edith raised us. I was the only family Ashley had left and I walked away and never looked back. I never even contacted her so I don't know how it's going to go now. I couldn't even be bothered with going to her mating ceremony. I was a horrible sister and now im here begging for help. I don't even know if she will help to be honest."

"How can your sister help more than I would be able to?"

"My sister and I are special, we were adopted when we were young. My mother was a high ranking witch who fell in love with a human. When we were young my sister and I started showing signs of having gifts. She trained us until She was killed. After that we practiced on our own. I am hoping with her help we can get my pack back."

"I'm sorry but I believe you only want to get revenge not get your lands back. On one hand I agree with this but on the other you should know that without an Alpha to balance you a Luna can not rule a pack by herself. I'm sorry but I will have to inform the council of your plans."

"I knew it would never really work but I had to try. What will happen to my pack?"

"I can offer you all a home here. You will have to pledge to me as your alpha but it will keep your people safe. The man who challenged your mate will be stripped of his Alpha title for cheating to get it. Where is your beta?"

"He was killed so he couldn't challenge. that monster for the pack. When we ran they were still laying side by side in the arena."

Wait a minute you said your sisters name was Ashley right?"

"Yes I did, why?"

"Just a moment. We will go see Edith in a few minutes. Please get what you need and meet me out front on the steps."

Once the Luna leaves my office I link mom to ask her if Ellen ever mentioned her parents names to her. When she responds with Ashley and David my heart sinks. I then ask her to come with me to see Edith because I believe she will be needed. She agrees and meets us on the steps ten minutes later.
