A Spell-less Mage

A magic academy is a place to nurture young, promising mages to become a future talent. Following the enrollment of Taimadou's 12th freshman batch, there appears to be no issue whatsoever. However, it seems that a 'plague' managed to pass through their filter. Rin is one of the students enrolled in the academy. As he's a descendent of the top mage clans, he should unquestionably wield magic. But unknowingly, there may have been an oversight in their judgment!

Chapter 5.3: Rin’s Mentality

5:27 p.m., Taimadou Academy Dormitory, Akane and Rin's dorm room

Rin had just finished taking a shower and exited the bathroom with his freshly dried clothes. It felt refreshing after the extraneous duel he had to partake in.

Hearing the door open, he noticed that Akane had arrived back as well.

"Hey sis, how was your exam?"

Akane looked exhausted and physically drained. Her expression was normal though, and she looked slightly happy.

"I did well, what about you?"

"I lost."

Akane didn't show a change in expression whatsoever. This was because she felt that if she showed a wrong expression at times like this, it would affect Rin mentally. It was hard to tell what Rin himself was thinking, so she decides to just wait until he reveals more information.

"Well, it was unfortunate, he was simply better than me."

"I see…"

Like Rin's normal behavior, he doesn't seem too pent up upon a loss. It even sounded like he didn't even try to win. While this approach wasn't wrong, Akane felt that it would have an effect towards Rin or them both in the future.

"I'll go take a shower."

Akane voiced out towards Rin, which was in front of the fridge. Before entering the restroom, she worriedly looked back at Rin, who appeared as if nothing had happened.

This is the end of the introduction chapters to the A Spell-less Mage series. It was a lot of fun writing until this part. While the story is just the beginning, the seeds have been sown throughout multiple minor chapters in between.

Writing Rin's character, I eventually made him resemble my own line of thought, which was personally interesting.

I had a good time writing until this point, and will write this to the end.

Thank you for reading thus far.
