Road to Durham (5)

They continuing the journey with a steady pace, Edith holed herself inside her carriage for the whole days. She plans to re-writing her favorite song along with its musical notes, she wants to keep it as a part of her memories. Moreover, she needs to write down her food receps for establising the business plan in Durham.

Now that she knews what to do, her boring days at the road was more bearable. She was occupied for all day practicing vocals again, Selena on the other hand looking at me weirdly but didnt questioning it, she just stares as if i am a peg puff after the banquet. Nonetheles, I didnt stop exercising except when everyone needs to rest for a meal and camping.

The carriage was shaken by the unruly road, I would have been puking out all the food i've eaten if its not because the medicine my mother gaves me before i left the town. Truthfully saying, I was hoping for this world to develop in industrial enginering that specialized to create a vehicle or something similar to make the journey more enjoyable and lessen the nausea feeling.

I was wondering if there is any spell that could reduce the shaky carriage since mages are well-known jobs for everyone, the crown prince should be responsible to providing a mage in this matter. The thing is, I know that in the future there would be a huge discoveries and it was invented by Durham Kingdom.

"A warp gate..." I was mumbling it out of loud, It was something similar from my favorite animation when i was still a child. A shortcut bridge to connect a long-distance place one to another in a matter of moment.

Maybe the research was still progressing because as now i've been travelling for a few days by carriages. Even though I'm interested in this magical world, and fancy them because that all things was strange to me. I found it hard to connect it with me, maybe I am still can't get used to it.

"Soon, We'll be at Terranian Port in four hours." Shouted the chief Captain from outside the carriages allerting the knight

Someone tapping the door carriages, Edith could see it was her knight followed by her brother 'Adam'. He looks like had something to say.

"Brother, Whats wrong?" I said while opening the window since we are still moving. I tilted my head to him, adoringly he smiled at her.

"We'll arrive at the harbor soon." he said affectionately while mounting a horse. Edith was greatly pleased and smile happily. After delivering the news he galloping his horse to the front again.

Because the windy weather, She closed the window immidiately after her brother left. Her nose felt sick when she inhale the cold air. In this climate, people tends to caught a fever, she was worried about his brother health. "Selena, do you know ginger plant?" she was asking in case Selena didn't know.

"I do Milady, its a herb commonly used for easing pregnant woman sickness."

"Good. Then buy the ingridients were written on this paper" Edith handing her the list, "Is there anything you didn't know after seeing the list ?"

Selena was reading it focusedly. "No Milady. I'll buy this as soon as we reach the town port." She fold the paper and keep it inside her pocket.

Edith nodded her head and began to watch the outside sceneries. The fallen leaves before winter reminds her to a boy when she was a highschool student. He was kind to everyone, he said that her baked cookies were delicious and the young Edith helplessly fallen for him before she knew he dates her friend.

She knew, she cant hate her friend because of that. So she learnt to become a chef, it was her hobby. Moreover, she's happy to become ones but live makes it hard for her. Reminiscing about the past almost makes her cynical, now that it was part of her personality anyway.

Terranian Forest was named after the towns name and grow on the top a hill, moreover the thick forest was covering the Terranian port. For that reasons, Edith couldn't see the sea right away before the entourage walks deeper inside the forest.

This place sceneries was always beautiful, she could see the port, its town brimming with vim and vigor. Therefore the Terranian town will make my time more fun than barrels of monkeys before I left for Durham kingdom.

The town was built down in between two rocky hills, almost like calanques from the Marseille region in french.

The ships were parked not too far away from the beach because the port itself was built with the foundation of the port attached to the side of a rocky hill. So Edith could see from a far, how busy the town was.

'Worry not, now that money wasn't a problem. I want to eat seafood for the lunch.' She thought while looking the ever-changing views. Her past live rarely enjoyable, even thought now werent that different.

a few hours was gone in a blink of the eye, they pass through the Terranian towns gate without having to wait in queue. Inviting envy and anger from the merchant and common people in line. The gatekeeper saluted at the sight of chief captain when he showed his badge. Were went inside the town without a hitch.

It tooks around one hour to reach the inn, Edith was dead tired as soon as she launch herself on top of the bed. Selena was out to look for the ingredients she asked her to bought.

there are still three hours left before lunch time, Edith was sleeping soundly.

Knock~ Knock~

Adam was standing outside Edith room, he had changed into his pair uniform and store the armor away. The other knight too had done the same, the long journey from the capital made them exhausted.

He had free times after reporting his duty to the captain, They were dismissed until the sun dawned from the sky. Acquiring the ships ticket for her sister was easier when it was bought along with the royalties. Adam's want to take his sister for a meal.

"Ed, It's me Adam. Are you up ?"

"Come in brother."

Hearing her permission, Adams opening the door carefully. Edith was in her casual clothes, wearing pants not a skirt.

"Lets grab a lunch at the restaurant. I had a free time." He asks straightforwardly.

"Sure, let me write a note for Selena first."

Edith took a pen out and scribbling a message for her personal maid, put it on top of the drawer, so she can find it easily.

"Now, it's done. Let's get going brother." She said packing some cash on her pocket.

Since the carriage was used by Selena to buy some ingredients. Edith and Adams decided to walk by foot. She could see several seafood restaurants, their main menu's was centered by grilled technique. Some was frying it, and we could faintly smell the salted fish aroma on the air.

Adam took her inside a well-built restaurant, they went up to the second floor of the restaurant.

"Oh, I didn't think we will see each other in this place."

The siblings who were looking for a seat immediately turned to the source of the sound. Sitting there near the window side was Grand duke Isaac with his companion Sir Ragnar.

They're hurriedly approaching them to politely greeting as per-custom. Before they could speak, Isaac spoke his mind.

"Drop the formalities, were going on the same journey for a few days ago and so in the next days."

"Lord Isaac was right, since were on the same boat we can't be stiff with each other." Ragnar oddly added. He had a mischievous smiled on his face and so the Grand duke was strangely excluding a warm atmosphere.

The sibling pair was speechless, and succumb to their words.

"Then we are grateful to Lord Isaac, sir Ragnar." Adams bowed slightly, he was happy because today's road had been rough, and he was feeling moody because of it but both of them told him to be at ease.

Edith thanked them too. They invite the siblings to sit with them, ragnar moved seats to let them sit side by side and he himself sat beside Isaac. Allowing Edith to enjoy the view from the windows, Adam sat beside her.

This unique port area is located among the steep rocky cliffs, making its inhabitants build buildings that follow the shape of the cliffs. This view can be seen from the second floor of the restaurant, where Edith is sitting for lunch.

She was busy looking at the view after the waiter came to take down their order. Adam was engaging a conversation with Isaac and ragnar, talking about their sword training, so Edith ignored them.

'It would be nice to sunbathing on the sand of the city's beaches...' her warm red eyes following the city architecture and its beach which was packed with fisherman.

Imagining herself with black bikini's and lazily lying on top of the white sand in modern setting unconsciously made her smiling.

Amidst of it she felt someone gazes at her, She made an eye contact with the Grand duke when she glances at the source.

His gaze looking like a beast, almost like a cat. A big one at that, the ones that gazing as if he was the predator. His bright golden eyes was eye catching, but Edith couldn't fathom what he had in mind while staring at her.
