Chapter 27

I can't seem to get myself to seat in one place, as my feet keep on making me walk to and fro the length of the room.

Adrian seems to be calm as he just kicks his legs up and down while I am here thinking of how I will achieve the goals that his father has set for me.

I don't know a single soul in this place, and that scares me even the most. The only person that I know is Adrian and his witch of a girlfriend, and now even she hates me with an unrelenting passion. I can't seem to know how I am supposed to achieve anything in this place, without any connections or backup from anyone.

The futility of my situation surprises me, as I plop down on the bed and let out a frustrated groan. It's almost night time now and yet I haven't seen to come up with a single idea in winning people over to my side.

Adrian looks at me and gives me a consoling smile and I almost chuck a pillow at him. "I don't need your smiles" I tell him "I need you to tell me how to get myself useful in this little thing that you have planned for me" He seems to go into thought after this and I face palm myself, the guy isn't even thinking of anything at the moment as he just seems to begin thinking now.

Am i really sure I carried out a right decision entering into this sort of an arrangement?.

I could have simply bought some rat poison and slipped it into someone's tea and all my problems would have been solved, but instead I'm here to enjoy two months of socializing and getting people to, what was the word his father used again, "Sign trade agreements". What sort of a family signs trade agreements during Christmas.

I thought Christmas was the season for everyone to relax and chill out, but instead these people are here fighting a war, a literal battle within the walls of a million-dollar mansion. "How do I achieve anything?" I ask Adrian once more, "when you don't even seem to want to help me?". His face takes on a pained expression at this statement that I have made.

I can't help but feel bad I've saif something like that. True, Adrian hasn't been a lot of help but we've only known each other for more than a day now, it doesn't seem fair of me to suddenly pile up responsibilities on his head, because he asked me for help.

"I'm sorry" I say to him and he waves his hand in the air "no don't be sorry, you're right. I'm supposed to be helping you, instead I'm here being nervous a chocolate" I laugh at his little admission, and I look at the ceiling.

"Are you really sure I'm the right person for this job" I ask and again, I can feel his stare boring into my back. "If I didn't feel you were the right one, I wouldn't pick you" he says and the simplicity of his words gives me some assurance once more.

He was the one that picked me, and now I'm going to show him that he made the right choice. "Is there any way we can grab dinner?" I asked with a mysterious glint in my eyes and he seems to catch on. Let's get this party started.
