Chapter 123

"You're right grandma, they aren't from around here. They are thugs".

My eyes snap wide open at her statements.

"Thugs, why would thugs be here?" I ask her and she leaves it for me to figure out.

Okay with everyone being either eighteen or nineteen, even though some people could have done bodybuilding for the past six years ever since they had been twelve, I'm pretty sure that it will not still amount to them having this much muscle, especially when these kids are spoilt and as dirty as the ones that have no conscience, and so they employ thugs.

They employ other people to carry out thier dirty work for them as it is the only way to go.

"Is it even allowed?" I ask her and she nods her head.

"It is very much allowed, that is why almost everyone is participating in the fighting pits, because most of the contestants aren't even from here anyways. You simply have to wash them up, make them look a little bit nice and they will pass as anybody. You simply need to get them to fight under your family's name, it is the name that matters the most in all this" she says and I practically groan into the palm of my hand.

Why hadn't Adrian also thought of this, why didn't he also employ someone else to fight. He is injured, he should at least do that but the question hasn't even come out of my mouth, it isn't even out of my mind fully when I realised exactly why he wouldn't take that route.

He wouldn't take that route because it is dirty, it is low down and dirty of anyone to employ someone else to carry out such an activity. I mean if this other person got shot or he failed to carry out the expected task satisfactorily, then there will also be some sort of punishment too right.

Most of the people that is are standing here, even though they are huge with arms like drums, and palms that look meaty, there is also a tinge of fear in their eyes, they look at us like wild panicked rabbits.

Well this job, it would have to be huge then, but still, I can still feel the waves of indecision rippling through them, like they were being forced to be here.

"They have been forced to be around today" I say to Arden and she nods.

"Most of the time you don't employ someone whom you can't keep a hold on" she says and I nod my head. This is a simple tactic.

"You don't employ someone who will end up killing you and charging you for more because you are young and rich. Make your employee someone whom you can keep under your control, someone who will burn to your wheel as obediently as any little dog or puppy will, but I wonder exactly how this effect has been achieved?.

How have they been made to be so obedient, something tells me that I won't like the answer. I won't like the answer at all and so I simply avert my eyes away from there.
