[A/N: This chapter has been sitting in my folder for a while now, and I still don't know why this chapter stun-locked me so much. This chapter has been difficult for me somehow, as I loosely explained, but not really "magic." I should have left it simple, lol. At least this chapter is out of my hands now. I genuinely want to continue writing this gacha fic.]
A Simple Fisherman in RWBY
Chapter 16
- Argenti Ovans –
I breathed and exhaled with deep sadness inside me.
"Master, please take your time. There is no haste in creating your source of magic. It takes time to learn and control magic. Even natives in Earthland would find this step very difficult .." Said Virgo as she hovered over me and crossed her arms in thought.
"Please continue practicing the meditation technique that I showed you. You will unlock the knowledge of magic in due time."
My eyes stayed closed as I comfortably took another deep breath and listened to Virgo. My body jolted as I suddenly felt her familiar warm touch on my back. I was tempted to open my eyes and ask about her sudden reaction.
"Master, your body is too stiff, so please relax. Let me help your body, and you should continue meditating." Whispered Virgo into my ears as I tensed slightly.
I was sure she was doing this to tease me… but relaxing my body, huh? It would be tough with Virgo groping my whole body, but I might as well try and "relax."
"Good, you are doing great, Master. I shall continue to watch over." Continued Virgo calmly as she continued her meditation.
I breathed and exhaled…
I kept doing it for a while without seeing the time passing, and I was utterly captivated by this experience of learning magic. I truly wanted to master such abilities and make my life easier. At the same time, Virgo, who was carefully taking care of my body, noticed something.
"It seems that Master is having a hard time absorbing the Ethernano in the air… Is it because of the unfamiliarity? Possible… How should I help him?" whispered Virgo as I still managed to hear her thoughts.
Well, she was right in this regard. I felt something special inside the air, but it was mixed with something else. I'm unsure if I was the problem or if the world was fucking with me.
Alas, it's not like my poor knowledge of Fairy Tail would also help me. After all, I've been living a second life for a few years. So, most of my understanding of animes or manga that didn't particularly stand out to me became obscure or fragmented because of the passage of time.
At the same time, as I was musing deep in my thoughts. Virgo's voice suddenly woke me up as she reached out to my back again. I felt a rush of warmth inside me. "Then let me help you become familiar with the Ethernano, master." Said Virgo.
"…"
I think… I felt it. I'm unsure how to explain it…
It was magic, after all, and how could I explain such a phenomenon? I was at a loss, yet I knew something deep inside me. Was this how the Ethernano felt like? How interesting… this magic territory was indeed fascinating for a muggle like me.
I greedily sucked the Ethernano in the air since I could feel progress with my practice. It made me very excited at the prospect of finally becoming a wizard.
However, my happiness didn't last long as I suddenly started to feel chest pain. I breathed hard as my breath laboured. I could only feel excruciating pain inside of me. I never felt such pain in my two lives.
"Don't stop meditating, Master. You are very close to unlocking your potential as a wizard. Endure this pain, remember it and savour it. The path of a wizard is not without danger and pain. Be the change; you want to be the Master." Said Virgo immediately after she noticed my current state.
"I believe in you…" whispered Virgo.
Virgo's speech and sweet message made my brain go brrr as all my neurons went wild!
"…Moreover, don't forget to use your aura. It is your greatest tool to achieve this final step right now, unlike the other wizard I know in Earthland. I wish you success." Said Virgo as she removed her hand from my back, stepped away, and watched me with Mudkip in her arms.
--
- Virgo –
She watched silently as Mudkip was in her arms, and they watched their fantastic Master. They would love and help him, but they knew it was something that could only be done by him.
She hated seeing her new Master in pain, and she would gladly take those pains away for her Master if she could. Unfortunately, it was a trial that every person must go through in life if they wish to become a wizard.
Creating a magic container inside your body is not a pleasant feeling.
"Mudkip…" whined the blue Pokémon as Virgo rubbed his head.
"I understand your feeling, Mudkip. It is tough to watch, but we can pray for our Master's success." Said Virgo as they continued to watch after Argenti's motionless body. They continued to guard the camp in case of Grimm.
Virgo looked at the sky as it started to darken. It seems like her Master took the entire day to become a wizard. She was greatly surprised by the talent of her Master. Even in Earthland, it wasn't easy for people to become wizards in a day. Moreover, most people fail at the last stage of creating a magic container.
She became really curious about the path her Master would take in the future. She would gladly accompany him on his adventure. Virgo suddenly entertained the thought of picking up her Master to visit Earthland. After all, she doubted they could find a shadow dragon or a dragon Lacrima in this world.
Sigh, her Master just had to learn a very troublesome magic…
She should definitively bring up the thought of visiting Earthland to her Master in the future. As Virgo was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt some movement in her arms as she looked down at Mudkip in confusion.
"Mudkip!"
"What do you me—Oh, my, I see it now…" muttered Virgo as she understood his behaviour. She felt the Ethernano around them get rapidly sucked by Argenti.
Her Master, Argenti, finally became a wizard.
"Hehehe, I-I did it, Virgo… I'm not a muggle anymore…" muttered Argenti tiredly as he suddenly dropped to the ground asleep.
ZZzzzz
"Oh my…" said Virgo, covering her mouth with a smile. She didn't hesitate to carefully put Mudkip down as she took care of her Master and tucked him inside his sleeping bag.
"Mudkip, please take care of him. I must depart, but don't worry. I shall be back in the morning," whispered Virgo to Mudkip, who nodded as she smiled.
She took a few steps away from the camp as a mysterious golden door appeared. Virgo didn't hesitate to turn the knob as she entered inside without fear as a dazzling light engulfed her.
Virgo opened her eyes as she closed the door from which she had come. Virgo returned to the Celestial Realm, her home world, where every celestial spirit came to life. She is currently in the nexus areas of the Celestial Realm, where various doors lead to different worlds. She suddenly looked behind her and sighed in relief when she saw the presence of the golden door.
It seemed like the Celestial Realm or her father had acknowledged the world Remnant and her contract with her new Master. Yet, it also made Virgo nervous when it came to her father. After all, the Celestial King was the reason she returned to this realm.
When teaching her Master about magic, she received a nudge from her link with the Celestial Realm. She knew it was her father's message asking for her to return. She was asked to meet with the rest of her siblings. Usually, such an occasion would bring her happiness, yet she knew the subject of this meeting would be about her and her Master.
She knew that her father, the ruler of this realm, was a very kind spirit yet also had his temper and could sometimes be unreasonable. Virgo shook her head to throw away her negativity as she quickly left the area, wanting to return to finish the meeting and return to Remnant with her Master. However, as she walked toward her starry hallway of the realm, she noticed someone familiar blocking her path. Virgo was mildly surprised by his presence.
This person was Scorpion, her brother, and the same Scorpion from the Golden Key. She was curious why Scorpion was looking for her. "Brother? Were you waiting for me?"
Scorpion smirked. "Yooo~! Sista! I see you are back to your original appearance, huh? I won't lie! It is much better than your last appearance."
Virgo nodded. "Indeed, while I didn't mind my new appearance under my last contractor, I am more comfortable in my original appearance. Brother, why did you come to meet me? I doubt you are here for small talk."
Scorpion raised his hands in the air. "Ayo~ Chill sista! I'm indeed here for something, but I'm also here for ya! The rest of the family and I are interested in your new contractor. After all, it is not every day that someone manages to steal our little star, no?"
Virgo nodded as she sighed. "My current master is adorable; my only complaint is that he hasn't punished me yet…"
"Hahaha! It's still the same old Virgo! Never change ya?" laughed Scorpion, holding his stomach from laughing too much.
Scorpion then looked at her with curiosity. "So? How did you think of this new world? The other siblings and I are curious about its addition to our realm."
Virgo dropped her head as she heard the question. "…Remnant is a broken world that is not in a good place. I don't know how long it will last…"
Scorpion frowned. "That bad, huh? Yikes… Now, I'm curious about this world. If only I could visit it. Alas… I'm still stuck with that bitch."
Scorpion then became serious as he stared deeply into Virgo's eyes. "Virgo, did you regret accepting his contract? You have a pretty significant role in our world, ya know? Many of our siblings don't understand your choice."
Virgo was silent as she heard her brother as she clenched her hands. She was, after all, fated to be a celestial spirit under Lucy Heartfilia, yet she became Argenti's exclusive maid. She made a selfish choice, but did she regret it?
Scorpion waited as he leaned on the wall. It wasn't fair to ask such questions, but he needed to know what his sister thought. The Golden Celestial spirits had essential roles in Earthland, and it was unheard of for someone from another world to be able to contact a spirit of their rank.
No, not really...
Virgo looked directly at Scorpion's eyes, which startled him. He was greatly surprised by the intensity of those eyes. "No, I don't regret it, brother. He needed someone, and I was willing to be his person. I love my Master."
Scorpion whistled as he respected Virgo's choice. Even he didn't have the guts to admit such things.
"Are we done here?" asked Virgo blankly. Scorpion shook his head with a sad smile. "Yep, I was just fishing for the information first. Anyway, everyone is waiting for us in our father's realm.
"…"
Virgo closed her eyes silently as she understood her father's invitation. She should have expected it, but as she said to her Scorpion, she didn't regret choosing Argenti as her Master.
Virgo opened her eyes as she walked past Scorpio and entered the gate, leading her to everyone.
Scorpion watched as Virgo entered the gate, and it slowly vanished. He sighed with sadness and then looked at the door that led to Remnant. "…You better be good. My sister is sacrificing a lot.
As Scorpion was ready to leave and rejoin everyone, he suddenly stopped when he felt a tug in his mind. He immediately recognized this feeling as a summoning alert that his dearest Master was calling for him.
"Tsk… What an annoying master of mine!" Scorpion muttered as he watched the golden door materialize in front of him. He sighed and entered the door that would lead him to Earthland.
'I should take a look at Remnant when I have time…' Scorpion thought before he left the Celestial Realm ultimately.
