(Chapter 6) New name, New beginning

"Hey Shadow?" The boy says timidly as we walk through the forest, we could've just teleported but the kid had been through too much shock already, "Yeah?" I reply looking over at the boy who had earlier revealed himself to be 12 years old (ironic how names are forgettable but ages rarely are), "I just realized, I can't remember my own name" he says in an oddly calm way, I guess all that crying really took it out of him. "Huh, well sucks to be you then but, I can't really talk now can I?" I say, "What you can't remember yours either?" He says looking both confused and surprised, "Don't tell me you thought Shadow was my real name?, I mean it's not even creative" I say watching as a small blue blush runs across the boy's pale cheeks, "But you will need some kind of name to go by" I pause stopping to look him over and my eyes lock on his silver hair, "Silver" I say with finality, he blinks, "What?" he says looking confused, "That's your new name, Silver, what you don't like it?" I say giving him a wounded look, "No,no it's fine!...I like it" Silver says looking away shyly. Okay that's it. "I'm keeping you" I say firmly, "Huh?" He says looking confused for what feels like the millionth time since we've started walking, "I'll get you rebranded when we get back to my boss's place, speaking of which we gotta move fast the suns coming up" I say as I glance up at the ever brightening sky, "Um is that a bad thing?" Silver asks, "It is if you wanna get anything done" I say frowning as the sky starts to get too bright for comfort, "Then how much further?" he asks, "Too far" I say, it had now been at least 2 hours since I left and we weren't even out of the woods yet, there was no way we were gonna make it home before sunrise by walking, "I hope you know that I didn't wanna do this cus I know firsthand just how much it can suck before you get used to it but I don't really have much choice" I tell an increasingly worried Silver, "Wait what are you-", "I'm sorry" I say, I'm behind him before he can react, I grab him from behind and we both teleport through the forest floor.

*Meanwhile further from the forest*

Shay sits on one of the higher branches of a roadside tree counting the money from her most recent job sighing in disgust before letting out a weak laugh, "Ha, I really am pathetic, even I never thought I'd sink this far" Shay shoves the money in her pocket, standing up on the branch, "I'm sorry" she says to no one in particular before falling off the branch and through the road.
