"Are you sure?" Maxwell asked sheepishly while rubbing the back of his head. "I brought my four children with me. And we also have a lot of baggage in the at the back."
Once he harkened Maxwell's statement, the man took a glance at the back seat to check for himself. He instantly met Syn's eyes, urging the lady to bow her head as a show of gratitude. The man simply returned the gesture before returning to his conversation with Maxwell.
"That much is fine. Why did ya leave y'all house when ya knew this would happen?"
"Well, we're quite in a hurry. I forgot to check the engine ahead of our departure."
"Oh really? I see." The man said as he brought his hand to his chin, as if taking his time to contemplate about the offer he made. After a few seconds, he nodded his head and looked at Maxwell in the eye. "'Ayt, y'all should scram. It's gonna get dark soon. I don't wanna cross the forest ahead in the dead of night."
"Thank you."
