Chapter 50

He was accompanied by a very tall, very handsome man. David Brighton. His head was clean-shaven, and his chocolate toned skin was flawless. He had an easy smile, and he didn’t even bat a lash when Grace introduced the four of them, as though meeting his boyfriend’s double, and said double’s vampire lover was a regular occurrence. Or maybe he just had manners. Dominique took one look at David and got a goofy little smile that made Jesse uncomfortable. Yes, David was worth a second look. No, Dominique shouldn’t have been looking.

Jesse and David had shown up just as Grace was setting the table, and she ushered everybody into the dining room to begin eating. Both Jesse and David looked perplexed when Gideon dug into his plate of shepherd’s pie, but if they had any questions, they didn’t raise them over the meal. Jesse was grateful for that, because he wanted to enjoy his mother’s wonderful meal in peace

He hadn’t eaten anything that good since he was thirteen.
