First Quests! (1)

Waking up earlier as his body told him to do so, David sat up and rubbed his eyes, clearing his vision before looking out the window to see that the sun was rising.

"Oh crap! I need to get to the adventurer's guild! I need mai quests!!!" David sprawled out of bed and changed into his 'Adventure' gear and quickly ran out of the inn.

He quickly ran through the empty streets with the occasional adventurers walking in groups, ready to accept quests first thing in the morning, so he could run without any worries.

Arriving at the guild in a few minutes of sprinting, David was surprised as he ran much faster than before and wasn't that tired at all!

Entering the guild, David went straight to the quest board and looked at the lower leveled ones as it was his first time and because of his current rank. It was quite convenient as there were 2 boards per rank, making it less crowded. The receptionists usually won't talk to you unless you come up to them or if you stayed for a long time without doing anything.

Picking up 3 quests, each included their locations as being quite close to each other, so he might as well just do them all.

"Please show me your adventurer's card please." the receptionist checked that everything was in order after she looked at the card and his rank, though as a new adventurer, even material-gathering can be dangerous.

"Thank you!" David smiled before stuffing the three pieces of paper into his pouch and ran out of the guild.

"Please be careful!" the receptionist said, seeing him so eager to finish his first quest.

She sighed, seeing that he was already out of sight, "...I hope he can come back... there's already too many deaths already..."

David looked at the system when he was outside before he sighed.

'No quest? How hard does something need to be for a quest to appear?' David had experienced some life-death situations in that cave, even if some of it sounded easy.

Sighing again, he opened his map, and linked it to the quest papers in his hand, and followed the direction arrow in the middle of the {Mini-Map}.

Seeing that the quest was actually quite far away as even after an hour of sprinting, the arrow was still apparently large and yellow, giving him the sign that he wasn't near his destination yet.

By the time he reached the location, the only thing on the map was a bunch of plains and a few caves up ahead, but with the {Mini-Map} it was all "clouds" as nothing much was discovered at the time.

David quickly got to work as he had read over the quest multiple times, giving him multiple images of what kind of material he needs to grab.

Because the system was there only to help him get stronger, finding different materials didn't mean he'd get rewards... unless he was able to use them to craft something else, like a potion, or armor... something like that.

He grabbed a total of 3 pounds full of different types of flowers that resembled three/four-leaf clovers, sunflowers, wildflowers, coneflowers, and primroses, though it was all different as they released a certain smell and aura.

'Natural tempered plants? So it's not just magic power plants, but also natural plants that can be used as herbs...' David was surprised at the colors of the different flowers as some even had hybrid colors, shapes, and even auras that seemed to be trying to repel him.

Getting the herbs he needed, he looked to the left and saw that there were also a few tree branches that the quest needed, and so he lept to the forest, eyes peeled for the quest items.

The forest was actually like the forests back on Earth, though there were more vines, ponds, and even a few more predators than usual. David had already fought against multiple mutated elk that seemed to have multiple pairs of extremely sharp antlers and thick hide, bears with high intelligence where it even called for backup and other animals that for some reason seemed to be teaming up on him.

David's gear was already covered in mud and some blood as well, but he couldn't clean himself up as he needed to be alert in case some other monster wanted to eat him.

After a few more hours of reaching to the inner parts of the forest did he finally get the required amount of birch and oak for his second quest of the three.

he quickly escaped the forest and found a small river stream quite close to it. Sensing that there were no monsters near a half a mile radius, David had drank some of the water and cleaned himself up. Yes, he did take a bath there was well, though he did purify the water afterward.

David after he put on his "gear", he took out the third quest paper again so he could have the system pinpoint the location for him.

Although the quest locations were "close", the real distance was actually quite large, making David lower his head in slight annoyance.

"I choose this quest myself... I'll get through it just fine... deep breaths... deep breaths..." David repeated to himself while following where the arrow was pointing.

David went to the right of the stream, leaving the forest behind as it slowly got smaller the further away he got.

"Extermination quest... Maybe fun, maybe very threatening... all I know is that this is just beginning!" David smirked, letting his beast side slightly get to him.
