First year Initiation Pt.1

[Attention Students Report to the Assembly hall]

Seth glanced at his wristwatch, it had been a few days and was currently the weekend he found it suspicious that an Assembly was being held at this time of day.

He was experimenting with his parasitic abilities with the help of Thally he was on the fields but since he was unanimously asked to go to the hall. He might as well go there.

In another part of the academy, specifically in the third-year building, two people were currently looking through a screen displaying some statistics.

"We are going to graduate next year, are you going to join one of the ten families or work for the council" A young woman with glasses asked, she had sharp blue eyes and blonde hair.

Elen Dianous. Ability: Cryogenic blood control.

Information: The ability replaces the natural properties of her blood with cryogenic particles, allowing her to manipulate and freeze blood, both hers and others, at will. This ability grants her control over temperature within the circulatory systems of living beings, enabling her to induce freezing damage or provide rapid cryotherapy for healing. It also enhances her physical endurance, as her blood doesn't freeze under natural cold conditions.

"Who knows, I might just propose to you or maybe become a planet Explorer," A young man with violet hair and red eyes said with a teasing smile.

Vincent Martinez. Ability: Neurotoxic Mind control.

Information: A special hormone connected to his mind makes everything in his body poisonous and venomous, allowing him to manipulate and control the nervous systems of others through the toxins he secretes. His ability allows him to release various neurotoxins, either as gas, liquid, or through direct contact, that can paralyze, manipulate, or even take over the minds of those exposed. Vincent can induce hallucinations, cognitive degradation, or temporary mind control, making him a deadly opponent both mentally and physically.

Elen gave him a sideways glance, not entirely amused by his playful tone. "Proposing to me? You're the last person I'd expect to settle down," she said with a small smirk. "But a planet explorer… I could see that. Far away from people, where you wouldn't have to deal with council politics or the families."

Vincent laughed, leaning back in his chair. "Yeah, I've never been the type to stick around the bureaucratic nonsense. But honestly, wherever I go, I'll have fun."

Before they could continue Vincent received a call.

[Yo Vincent, some third years and second years are about to do the initiation ceremony to the first years, I don't want to be a part of it but I heard the Darkeater group would be there…and my sister specifically join this academy so I might need to fight with a few annoying people, so if I get hurt don't worry about me that much, if you want to help you can, a bunch of others is also joining me, anyways I'd probably see you there]

The room suddenly became silent as the sound of tapping could be heard, Elen was humming, and to Vincent, that wasn't a good sign.

She then stood up from her chair. "Ah, my brothers are not going to make it easy for my sister and I am also not going to allow some untrained swine to hurt a group of newbies, some people got hurt last time"

Vincent sighed and then stood up too. "Eh whatever, I was bored of compiling these reports anymore, might as well go see if any of the first years have some fight in them"

Ellen rolled her eyes and then walked towards the door, Vincent followed her after taking a small cylinder of needles and placing it in his pocket.

In the vicinity of the academy Seth who was walking towards the hall was followed along by, Jake, Emily, and Zack.

It was surprising that Jack followed them but he didn't think much of it and Zack saw a familiar face and followed, Emily met him much earlier.

"So what do you think this assembly is about? Maybe it's a small demonstration," Emily said curiously, she was walking beside Seth.

Seth didn't know what it was for. "I don't know…"

Zack who was following spoke. "Well I might have some ideas, it is probably an initiation of sorts since I heard the shadows whispering about it"

Seth looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "The…shadows told you.."

"Yeah is there anything wrong with that, my abilities have that kind of effect I call it darkness feedback, I can control darkness and create shadows which I can send out into the shadows of others and then get back vague conversations from the surroundings, it was something I was experimenting on and…forgot about it, it was my sister's technique I was trying to recreate," He said while rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.

"…Pervert," Emily muttered under her breath, giving Zack a side-eye. "So you're just eavesdropping on people's conversations now?"

Zack raised his hands defensively. "Hey, it's not like that! I wasn't trying to spy or anything, it's just… feedback. I didn't choose what I heard!"

Seth shook his head, suppressing a grin. "Well, regardless, if what you overheard is true, this might not be just a regular assembly. Maybe the first years are about to get introduced to the academy's 'real' culture."

Emily frowned. "I hope it's not another one of those ridiculous initiation fights. Last year, some first years ended up in the infirmary for weeks."

As they continued walking, Seth noticed a slight change in the atmosphere. The air felt thick, almost charged with tension, like something was brewing beneath the surface. The further they walked, the more students they saw gathering in groups, some murmuring excitedly, others looking visibly nervous. It was becoming clear that something was going on beyond just a normal assembly.

In another part of the academy, Elen and Vincent had already reached the outskirts of the training grounds, where a group of third-years were gathering. The initiation was about to begin. Vincent could see several first years huddled in the distance, looking apprehensive as they realized they were about to face more seasoned opponents.

Elen surveyed the scene, her eyes narrowing. "It's worse than last year. These idiots are planning to make a spectacle of it."

Vincent rolled his eyes, casually twirling one of the needles from his pocket. "A spectacle is exactly what they want. You know how it goes, assert dominance, show the newbies who's in charge. It's practically tradition at this point."

"Tradition or not, they're going too far," Elen muttered. Her breath misted in the cool air as she readied her cryogenic abilities, feeling the cold energy begin to course through her veins. "If they hurt anyone, I'll step in."

Vincent grinned, his eyes flashing with mischief. "Oh, I know you will. Just don't freeze them solid this time. We don't need another disciplinary hearing."

Elen shot him a glare but said nothing as they moved closer to the gathering crowd.

Back near the assembly hall, Seth, Emily, Jake, and Zack finally arrived and were greeted by an unexpected sight. Instead of the formal setting they were expecting, groups of older students stood at the entrance, blocking the doors. Some were second and third years, grinning ominously as they eyed the incoming first years.

Seth didn't think for a second this was something good. 'Thally we may need to escape at any given moment, I for sure don't want to become an example'

'Really?, I mean we could see what the higher years abilities are, we can make plans to counter similar abilities in the future so getting beaten up doesn't sound like a bad trade' Thally transmitted in a playful voice in their heads.

Seth was speechless, does she want him to get beaten up that badly, he groaned at her words and decided not to speak to her, not because he was petty but because it could be a learning experience and it may provide some good ways to train his skills and probably make enemies.

The third years moved and let them enter, then after all the first years went in, the door shut behind them, on the stage a third year with black hair and a dreary aura was tapping the mic making sure it worked. "Hello there new students, My name is Dale Naxu i am the leader and founder of the Darkeater group and today we will be conducting a very special activity"

Dale Naxus. Ability: Primal fear.

Information: His ability taps into the deepest fears within the minds of those around him, forcing them to experience overwhelming terror. The fear isn't just psychological; it manifests physically, causing paralyzing effects, hallucinations, and heightened adrenaline responses. Victims find it difficult to discern reality from illusion, often breaking under the weight of their anxieties. Dale can also amplify his fear projections to induce flight-or-fight responses or push people into a state of pure panic, making him a formidable opponent in both direct combat and psychological warfare.

Dale's voice echoed ominously through the hall, and the first years tensed, sensing that this "activity" wouldn't be a simple exercise. The room darkened slightly, and whispers began circulating among the students. Some of the first years exchanged nervous glances, while others, like Seth, began to subtly prepare themselves for whatever was coming.
