A New Life In How To Train Your Dragon

Like many books about reincarnation. This is a story about a young man reincarnating into a world filled with Vikings and Dragons. Let's see how he survives in this new world full of dangerous beasts and men. Disclaimer: The only things I own are my OCs and this story. This is my first story on here. If you don't like it, don't read it.

The Skrill?

Walking through the village, I began contemplating the things I'd need to try and tame a Skrill.

'I know how to tame a Skrill, but there's no guarantee I'd even be able to find one in this specific storm.' Throwing my arms to the side in frustration I continued my walk to the forge.

'Ugh, but I'll probably never have a better shot at finding one than right now.' Groaning, I shook my head and ran inside the forge, looking for the things I needed.

"This should work." Grabbing a metal dagger, I took it. Taking a sword and shield, preparing other items in case things went wrong.

"Ok bow, check. Bolas, check. Rope, check. Better safe than sorry." After grabbing everything needed I bolt back into the heavy rain.

I sprinted towards the forest, slipping a few times as I raced towards the high cliffs. It took me a while, but as I finally reached my destination I began the difficult ascent.

"Ugh, I couldn't have chosen any other dragon to tame… argh, it just had to be a Skrill." Complaining as grabbed an exposed rock, attempting to pull myself up.

"Crap!" I yell as the rock splits apart from my weight. Before I could slip any further I grabbed another exposed rock to stop my fall. "Too close…" Breathing heavily I continued my climb.

Finally reaching the top he saw the lightning concentrated here than everywhere else, he knew he found his dragon.

'So it looks like I'm getting my dragon after all.' The thought of having my own Skrill sent shivers of excitement down my spine.

Before I could prepare to catch the dragon, an ear-piercing roar erupted from the sky. Covering my ears I looked up, lightning flash as a huge silhouette flickered through the dark clouds.

"The heck is that?! That looks nothing like a normal Skrill!" I yelled, barely dodging a bolt of purple lightning barreling towards him.

"Well crap…" Looking up, I see a huge dragon landed on the cliff, staring directly at me.

The dragon was a deep purple, almost akin to black, it had four legs, two large wings on its back, metallic-like spines lining its body except for parts of its neck, and finally a spiked crown upon its head.

"Yep, definitely not an ordinary Skrill…" The hairs all over my body stood on end as the massive dragon unfurled its enormous wings.

Roaring, the dragon charged in at me attempting to crush me in its jaws. Before it had the chance to bite down I rolled to the side, taking out my shield for protection.

"Oi! Can't we talk about this?!" I reasoned with it, only to have it roar at me as it fired blasts of purple lightning in my direction. Dodging in the nick of time I crash into the dirt, rolling before immediately getting back up.

"Ok, hard way it is!" Taking out my sword, I dashed toward the Skrill.

The Skrill shot more lightning at me, as I dodged and weaved, closing the gap between us inch by inch. By the time the Skrill began charging its lightning for another attack, it was too late, I was already in front of it.

"No, you don't!" I exclaimed, jumping at its head and bashing my shield on it, stunning the beast.

"Ha, what do you think of that oversized lizard!" Shaking its head it looked back at me angrier than before. Lifting its front legs it began swiping at me, trying to hook me between its claws and ground to end me off.

All I could manage to do was evade its attacks, hoping for a chance to gain the upper hand, but fighting a Skrill in a storm like this was almost suicide, it drew power from storms, fueling itself with its lightning, and both he and I knew that.

"Dang it!" I shouted as the dragon fired a bolt of lightning at him, almost throwing me off the cliff.

Getting up I glared at the dragon. It looked like it enjoyed toying with me, I could just tell from the way it looked at me it appeared to be grinning at him.

"Smart and powerful, not a good combo." Huffing as I once again sprint toward the Skrill.

Before I could reach it, it had already made its move. Now in the air, it dove at me at extreme speeds, barely ducking out of the way I took out my bow and shooting arrows at it. Roaring in pain the dragon slammed into the ground, before getting up, enraged and shrieking at me.

"Not so fun when you're the one getting hurt, is it?" I said, taunting the dragon.

It didn't seem to like the taunt because right after, it roared, and began charging its body with lighting as it started to glow purple.

"Oh, you have got to be kidding me." Running away from the electrically surging dragon I ducked behind some rocks as a pulse of electricity illuminated the cliff.

As the dust settled I opened my eyes, peering over the rocks, only to see the surrounding grass had been scorched. Whistling, I walked out from behind my cover, grinning at the Skrill as it snarled at me. My heart raced, beating in my ears like drums.

Refocusing on the battle I look toward the Skrill. 'Truly a creature worth taming.' Seeing that the electric blast seemed to have sapped some of the dragon's strength I dash forward, using the opportunity to try and take it down.

As soon as I get close, I slash across its chest, sidestepping a swipe it took at me, before slamming my shield in its face. Screeching in pain it reared back, attempting to crush me as it slammed its claw at me.

Weaving, I barely put up my shield in time as a blast of lightning struck my shield, hurling it off the cliff edge. Snarling, the rage-filled Skrill screeched as lightning cracked in the distance. Looking up I find multiple beams of lightning falling down.

"Crap!" Zigzagging the beams of lightning I run at the beast as we charge one another. Not backing down, I sprint at the dragon tightening my grip on my sword.

As the dragon swiped its claws at me, I slid under them, slashing at its legs, attempting to bring it down. With a successful slash, it flew forward, unable to stop itself from crashing into a pile of boulders.

"Come on, I know that isn't enough to take you down!" I screamed as the dragon responded by shrieking at me as it burst through the rubble with a small electric pulse.

"That's more like it! Come on then!" I shout as we continue our battle.

Now at opposite ends of one another, we stand bloodied and bruised, both tired from the battle of life and death.

"You… Give up yet?" I asked the Skrill as I shakily raised my sword. Offering a low growl the Skrill rushed at me once more.

"Of all the stubborn dragons in this world, I had to pick the worst of them all." I grumbled before charging the Skrill. Dodging the Skrills attack I roll to the side of it before jumping on its back.

"Listen Skrill, We're both exhausted and tired so how bout we put aside our differences and work as a team? Plus there's the fact my sword is pointed between your eyes." Growling the dragon gave a slight nod of agreement.

"Good... now I'm gonna remove my sword, better not try anything." Grunting the dragon began to slowly descend the mountain with me on its back.

'Seriously, how did I manage to survive this? This freaking guy is just huge. Not to mention smart... I'll definitely tame this guy.' I thought, chuckling a bit as I breathed heavily, finally able to catch my breath.
