"Ah, Mr Davies! Come in." Ruth said, putting away the book she was reading when she saw Harold entering the room.
She smiled, looking up at him as he paused to bow slightly before he sat across her. Her smile was different, Harold could tell that.
"I thought the Luna has forgotten this petty pawn in the game." He relaxed back in the chair.
He was surprised to see Thea sitting beside Ruth. Earlier when they needed to meet in secret, her job was to keep them alert by guarding the door.
But now that Harold had gained Edwin's trust, they didn't need to meet in secret anymore.
Ruth smirked. "The petty pawns are the dangerous ones Mr Davies. With one cross move, that pawn can kill the King."
Harold's lips stretched into a smile.
"You know who is the most dangerous one in THIS game?"
"It must be Lord Augustus!" Thea said dryly.
Harold shook his head at Thea. "You are wrong here, Mrs Welby. That person is sitting right beside you!"
