Ruth was standing on the balcony of Edwin's chamber, staring out at the town's skyline. Her mind was busy mulling over many things. She wanted to have a moment of peace but seemed like it was impossible for her.
At least the aloneness provided her with some space to think about everything thoroughly. Amongst all things, one thing kept nagging her these days.
She had already discussed the recent developments with Mrs Payne. Usually, the woman had something to aid Ruth, but this time, she looked exceptionally quiet and didn't contribute to the discussion much.

What did she know, and why she was hiding it from Ruth?
Ruth sighed as no matter how much she thought about it, the road always led to a dead end.
A pair of strong, thick arms encircled her abdomen before her back was pressed against a wall of warmth.
