The brunch went amazing, leaving behind refreshed souls. The wounds would take time to heal, but those memories came as a blow of cool air on them. But Elsie couldn't put her whole heart into that brunch.
Her heart kept flipping inside her chest every time she heard Lester's voice. She tried her best to not look at him and succeeded, but she couldn't brush off the feeling of his gaze lingering on her now and then, drilling holes in her head in an attempt to reach her insides.
They hadn't spoken even a single word since he was back. She deliberately did everything possible to avoid him. He tried to approach her a couple of times, but maybe his efforts were not enough, or the luck was on her side that the things between them didn't progress at all.
But what bothered her the most was his growing closeness with Eloise. Now Elsie knew that she was marked by Lester and now only death could do them apart. But she couldn't control her inner jealousy, and that was not from her wolf only.
