In Harold Davies's office, which was in the main square of Vincardine, Ruth sat in the same chair where she had sat many months ago.
But things were very different this time. She sat like a scared cat trapped in the cage of the wild wolf then. But today, she sat like a queen who had all the control in her hands.
She could see how tensed Harold was. He was trying to figure out her intentions. So why not make it easy for him, Ruth thought.
"Aren't you going to offer me tea or coffee Mr Davies? The last time we spoke, you were ready to bath me in the gold and diamonds if I remember correctly."
Harold wanted to wipe out that smirk from her pretty face. The woman he had known for all this time looked nothing like the one who was sitting in front of him with crossed legs and square shoulders.
"Come straight to the point!" He hissed, trying to hold back the heated reaction.
