The Talks Begin
Varya woke up early to the feeling of Basileus kissing her as he got out of bed.
He couldn't resist stealing a kiss from his sleeping love even though he knew it might wake her up. He was completely under her spell and returning to the version of himself three years prior who never left her alone for very long.
He hoped she would tell him to stop when he got to be too much.
"Where are you going?" She whispered, tiredness still in her voice.
"I have men to train but I'll be back for our meeting," he said.
She was tired but he seemed refreshed. It was amazing to her how little sleep he needed to look as handsome as always while she was sure there were dark circles under her eyes that could use to be covered.
"Then I'll see you later," she said.
As soon as he left, she hugged a pillow and willed sleep to return but it never did.
