Friends For Life
Varya paused after she heard Ebari's voice. She instantly felt bad for calling him because she needed something after they had parted on such bad terms.
His smooth voice didn't sound angry, but she felt the need to justify why she was calling him.
She took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry, Ebari for-"
He quickly cut her off.
"Don't apologize," Ebari said. "Is everything okay?"
Instead of angry, he sounded worried.
When communication came in from another one of his devices, he was instantly worried that there was an emergency with Varya. He thought there was no other way she would call him.
Varya was his first friend, and he had been living with the feeling that telling her the news of the prince had ruined their friendship. He felt foolish for thinking someone so close to the worst person in her life could be friends with her.
At times he wondered if he would have to choose between Varya and Emperor Kruos and the thought frightened him.
