Chapter 6: A Deal with a Devil

Waking up in a cell almost made me want to cry. Though the pain in my back being mostly gone was a relief. I look down to see my bandaged torso. Looks like they took the knife out.

My question is why though? Why would they keep me alive after I broke in. Do they want something from me.

My break in also wasn't my brightest idea. I should have gone for some random shmuck's house. It would have been much safer.

"Glad to see you give up on your morals when not suffering from blood loss." I hear Leviathan comment in a sarcastic tone.

Before I can reply I hear gravely Italian voice echo through the room.

"What kind of hellhound breaks into a mansion in the middle of the night to steal food? Let alone doing it after being stabbed. You have some serious guts kid, I'll give you that."

I look over to the voice only to see an imp in a suit and fedora. The voice does sound familiar though.

"Who are you?" I ask with zero hesitation.

"Hahahe, you got some balls kid. To try and rob from the head of a mafia family and not know who the boss is. But to enlighten you the name is Crimson."

That was a name I recognized. And now I understand why the voice is so familiar. This is Moxxie's father… Crimson. And he wanted something from me.

"Your lucky the thing you were stabbed with was decently valuable. Otherwise you would be dead right now. That lightly blessed dagger was an interesting find for sure.

They used to make a lot of them back in the day. But now there more rare. Especially when most got destroyed during the first purge."

That should have killed me. Any blessed weapon no matter how weak should have done more damage. That left me with only one conclusion. The spell from yesterday actually worked. It must have focused on keeping me alive rather than more strength like improvements. And most likely the reason Crimson kept me alive.

"So you are in quite the predicament currently. I have the resources you want. And you have the body that can kill, something I need.

So how about we make a deal. You do what I tell you, and I'm return I will feed and house you. How does that sound?"

"Not good enough I reply." I know my worth.

"I need some autonomy, if this is going to work." I give my proposal.

"And what makes you think you can demand anything right now?!" Crimson asks in anger. His brows furrowed and his eyes narrowed.

"Because I can survive blessed weapons and no one else can." I give my straight forward reply. With a slight smirk on my face.

"No. You can survive a lightly blessed weapon barely. Your right in it being deadly to most, but any hellborn worth thier shit can take such a weapon." Crimson gives as an almost offhand remark.

"That still means I'm worth more than ninety percent of hellborn." I shot back at his comment, a grin still plastered on my face.

"Fair enough. Then what kind of "autonomy" are you looking for?" Crimson finally acquiesced to my demand. His face switching from angered to amused.

"To be paid, and a day off. Once a week" I give my demand.

"That all?" The imp looks confused.

"I would also like to deal with my enemies however I want." I give in response to his question.

"That's more like it! Welcome to the family then." Crimson gets up from his chair and reaches into the cell with an outstretched hand. His smile is cruel and unusual.

I decide that this is probably the best I'm going to get. So I get up from the floor uncrossing my legs. I then shake the Imp's hand to seal our deal.

I was then let out of my cell and told to follow. We quickly navigated out of the dungeon in Crimson's basement, only to be headed outside.

Not long after I was led to a gardeners shed. Crimson personal Shark man bodyguard opened the door. Inside revealed to be a shed full of garden tools. On the floor was a single mattress with a blanket.

"This will be your home for now. If you don't like it buy yourself a house when you get paid. For now get settled in, and we'll talk tomorrow." Crimson said all this with a devilish smile. It was just asking me to punch him in the face.

I restrained myself to only begrudgingly saying thank you. Before heading inside to my new home. I then hear the door shut behind me as the room goes dark. It takes me a moment to find the light switch, and then for it to even work.

Now I'm left in a slightly damp gardeners shed. The smell of earth and grass permeates the small building. But honestly this is the best I've had in this new life. So I'm gladly going to take advantage of it.

It doesn't take me long before I'm curled up in my bed, the blanket on top of me. It has got to be the most comfortable I've been in what feels like forever. So with my injuries and my comfort I soon fall asleep.

The morning was not pleasant. I was woken up rudely by the sound of banging right outside my door. Then came the yelling.

"Get up pup, there's shit I need you to do today." I hear the telltale voice of Crimson yelling.

I slowly get up and make it too the door. Still sleepy due to not waking up at a usual time.

"What do you want." I ask in a tired tone, with a slight growl to it.

"First pup put these on." Crimson says as he tosses me some clothes.

They hit me directly in the face, but I still managed to catch them. I then look to see a pair of jean shorts and a black T-shirt. I'm top of the set was a straw hat with two holes I assumed were for my ears.

I head back inside taking off my shredded clothes and bandages to put on the fresh ones. Actually a little surprised at the gesture. I do leave the hat off though. Makes my head feel weird. But as soon as I leave I hear Crimson's voice.

"Go put on the hat." He commands in a no nonsense tone.

I do so slightly confused. Wondering what I'm going to be doing today.
