Jack had frozen the moment he saw her up there., she was shining under the spotlight all in white and so confidently beautiful. It was then he knew who had invited him. But why would she do this if she didn't want him next to her, ...to torment him, drive him crazy. He felt something in his chest pressing it down, he pulled down his tie so he could breathe properly.
She was back but this time he could feel something bad was going to happen with her return.
He moved to lose his focus he knocked into some guests, "Excuse me" he mouthed running out. He heard her name being said again and his heart ached once more. He knocked on someone and fell to the ground.
"Are you okay?" a voice asked.
"Am fine?" he said trying to get up. But his body was fighting against his will, so he fell back down.
"Let me help you" a hand helped him up.
He looked up to see a woman's face, looking at him worryingly.
"You okay?" she asked.
He nodded trying to pull away but staggering, the hand of the stranger steadily held him
"Are you heading to your car?" she asked looking around.
Two black men walked up to her, "Excuse us, we can take it from here"
She frowned, "Do you work for him?"
One nodded, "Yes" while the other took Jack from her hold
"Thank you" they turned walking away. She stopped them, "Am sorry but I can't let you take him, am not sure you know him, what if you're kidnapping him?" she said.
Bob sighed, "His our boss, Jack Avil and he might require help right now, so please let us go miss"
She glanced at them again, "Am going with you, guys. just to make sure you're telling the truth" she said.
Bob opened the car for her and then placed Jack next to her.
"And in case your real kidnappers, know my father is the head of the police force of the city so you will be in trouble if you kidnap us" she shouted.
He closed the door and got in too, driving off.
