A Dream Come True

Sadie felt a certain degree of hostility toward her but she might be able to get some questions answered that wouldn't be possible from the others. "So…how long have you known Fletcher?"

"Ten years," Lexi answered flatly. 

"That's a long time."

Her reply was made lamely but what else was she supposed to say when that tone was obviously trying to shut her down? Maybe Lexi disliked her right off the bat because she was a hero. 

Should she address that? She wasn't sure and it might make things worse. Before she got the chance, Lexi spoke again. 

"What's all that?"

"Oh. I was just getting some more casual clothes. It's not so easy chasing people around in a dress. We went to the zoo this morning and I had a bit of a hard time keeping up," Sadie said sheepishly. 

Lexi blinked at her. "You actually took them? Why?"

"Marlee asked and I didn't have anything else going on. Why not?"

"Huh."
