A Devil Named Devotion

When the most powerful mage in the world suddenly dies and leaves his inheritance spread across his journal pages, a mad dash to collect them erupts on the continent. One small issue: just before his death, that mage hid his journal pages in various locations, unknown to all. A young man, unconcerned with it all, suddenly has his life changed forever when he stumbles upon one of these pages and unlocks a power within himself he never knew he had.

Slaughter

"Who the fuck is Salvador Mystace?" Devotion asked, thoroughly confused. "Did Dreven Krauss hire you and give a fake name? I've never met a Salvador. I'd remember such a stupid name."

It is important for you to know, dear reader, that Devotion never properly learned Salvador Mystace's name, nor the name of the family. To Devotion, that was merely a moustached man that he had swindled some money out of, then killed the henchmen sent to kill Devotion. However, Devotion wasn't even thinking of that event. It was not much more than a distant memory.

"Don't play stupid to preserve your life. You are undoubtedly the man we were sent to kill. Surrender, and we'll at least give what's left of your corpse a proper burial!" The leader of that group of hired hands called.

This could not be worse timing. Devotion was still somewhat manic from consuming so many crystal cores, and he desperately wanted more of them. He didn't have time to deal with these idiots.
