Together

As the sun was beginning to rise, leaking through the cracks under the door, I slowly opened my eyes. Only I didn't expect to see what was in front of me.

"..." There Charlotte was, breaking gently as she sleeps with her head rested on the side of my bed, right in front of my eyes. I didn't dare make any sound, not wanting to disturb her sleep. But why is she holding onto my hand? Even now, she's gripping my hand quite firmly, not that I don't mind it, if anything I like it. But still, I wonder why? She's surely uncomfortable sleeping like that. But it was then that I looked at her face. She looks so peaceful... She even has a slight smile on her face. Yeah, I don't want to disturb whatever dream she's having. Wait... Maybe I can-

With a thought in mind, with my free hand, I slowly raise it over Charlotte's head before gently patting her head, brushing some of her hair away from her face. She always does this to me, and every time I feel like I enjoy it more and more. I wonder if it's the same for her?

"M-mmm..." She makes a bit of noise, and it appears she's sensed my touch as she unconsciously leans into it. I can't help but smile as I continue to gently pat her, not wanting to wake up any time soon. Even her smile has grown a bit while I do this. She must like this, right?

"Shi-ro..." Wait, is she awake? Has she been awake this whole time? I quickly lean in to check her face once more, but her eyes remain closed. Could she have said that in her sleep? Is that a thing?

"Yes, Charlotte?." I decide to speak softly just in case she's still asleep, but after waiting a few moments, she doesn't reply.

I end up spending my morning, head patting Charlotte, letting her sleep in until she wakes up. To be honest, it's quite fun seeing her reactions even when she's asleep. I feel like I got to see a side of Charlotte I didn't know. But of course, it didn't last forever.

"Mmm? Shiro?"

"Good morning." I choose to stop patting her as she takes that moment to lift her head slowly off of my bed. I did my best, but her hair's still a bit of a mess. Although my hair's probably in a much worse state if I'm honest.

"That felt nice, thank you."

"Huh? Wait, were you awake that whole time?"

"Hehehe, no. But I did wake up when you first touched touched me. I fell back asleep soon after that though."

"You could've said something..." I feel a bit bad now, no... What is this that I'm feeling? I feel strangely happy, but also anxious?

"But then I wouldn't have been able to enjoy your head pats now would I? Hehehe." So I was tricked... But it's not like I'm mad, if anything I'm happy that she liked it. I was a bit worried if I was messing something up.

"Thank you."

"Hey, I should be saying that, hehe."

We eventually get out of bed as Charlotte once again helps me dress. But this time, I managed to get the uniform on myself, however, I still needed her hand with the bra as I'm still lost in how exactly it works. Once we were all dressed, we left the apartment before hopping back into the car.

"Right, So since you want to be with me, you'll need experience."

"Yes." I understand that much. Right now I'm hopeless which is why Charlotte was teaching me how to use a gun, the same one that I'm carrying right now.

"The next mission we'll do is an assassination mission." She then shows me the paper which has a picture of a big, muscular man with dark glasses covering his eyes. But what my eyes focus in on is his hair. It's all pointing straight up instead of flowing down like mine or Charlotte's. "He's deemed too high of a threat, so before he can be apprehended by the local authorities, we'll handle him ourselves."

"Right. But what does assassination mean?"

"To kill."

I half expected something along those lines, but it still makes my heart stutter for a moment. I then look at the gun in my hands as I put two and two together.

"I'm meant to kill him?"

"If you can. But unlike last time, it's all on you, okay? It won't be like when I take off your mask, you'll be in control. If you decide you can't do it, then I'll take care of-"

"No." I clench the gun in my hands upon hearing her words. "I can do it."

"Hehe. Well I'll be there to support you, so don't worry. He frequents bars a lot, but he'll head back to his place sometime in the night. We'll do it before he makes it inside his home."

"And you know where he stays?"

"Yup. So this'll hopefully be a lot easier than the last one." Well, It better be... I'm not sure what I'd do if I have to kill all those vampires like what Charlotte did. She was pretty cool though...

"Okay, you ready?"

"Mm!"
