Problem After Problem

Once we made it back to the apartment we're staying at, Charlotte took out a phone before contacting Lisa. And in less than an hour, she turned up. By this point, the vampire woke up, but thanks to the cuffs Charlotte put on him, the same ones she put on the man that we were supposed to get, he didn't pose any real threat. His mouth was also covered by some sort of tape, with his body also strapped to a chair.

"So this is the one?" Lisa is the first to speak upon seeing the vampire in question.

"Yes."

"Alright, I'll take it from here."

"Shiro, we can go to the bedroom if you like? You don't need to see this." Charlotte, after seeing Lisa approach the vampire, asks me in a soft manner. But-

"I-if it's possible, I'd like to see this." I want to learn more about Charlotte's world, and that includes things like this as well.

"...Okay." I was expecting Charlotte to maybe double down and try and push me away from this, so it made me happy to be able to share this moment with her.

Both Charlotte and I move a bit away from Lisa as she soon takes off the tape covering the vampire's mouth in a quick fashion.

"Careful! It stings you know." The man himself speaks in a casual manner though, as if he's not concerned in the slightest in the situation he's in.

"What were you doing staking out that man's house?" Lisa's voice however took on a stern tone as she emitted an almost dominating aura, as if the air around her began to thicken.

"Like I'll talk to some mutt." But the man simply scoffs at Lisa, as if not bothered in the slightest.

"Really now?" Suddenly, Lisa moved closer before taking out a long knife from her waist before moving it up to the man's knee. "You won't talk to this 'mutt'? Hmm?"

"What's a mutt?" The term Lisa and the man used is going over my head, so I end up whispering the question to Charlotte who's standing next to me.

"It's what some races call wolves, usually vampires."

"Wait, so Lisa is a wolf?" But she looks so human...

"Her father is a wolf demi-human. Her mother's a human."

"I see..." So that's why the man called her that... Wait- "But how does he know that?"

"Hehe. You've already forgotten? Vampires have keen senses, much like wolves." Ahh~ Right. Yeah, Charlotte did sniff out the man from his house. I don't know why I didn't put two and two together.

"Aaah!!!" Suddenly, breaking up Charlotte's and my conversation, the man screamed out, directing our attention back to him and Lisa. It was then that I saw the knife Lisa held is now wedged right into his knee socket.

"Keep playing and I'll pop your god damn knee off." The aura around her is so dense that it's honestly a bit hard to breathe, even when I'm standing back here.

"G-go ahead. I ain't telling you sh- aaah!!!" His words cut off there as Lisa begins to twist the knife inside his knee. Despite no blood coming out, his cries are filled with pain as he reflexively looks up towards the sealing, as if not wanting to look at Lisa or his leg.

"Why were you at the man's house armed with a gun. Were you planning on killing him?"

"Like I'd kill that piece of shit."

"Then why?"

"Hnng- aa-aaaahh!!!" Once more, Lisa twists her knife, burying it deeper into his knee as he tries desperately to try and break free from his restraints.

"Why!"

"What do you think?! How could I not take my chance when I saw a Ruler?" Ruler... As in Charlotte? So he was trying to kill Charlotte? Not me? The realization soon makes the blood inside me begin to boil, but before I could even react, Charlotte placed her hand on my shoulders, calming me down almost instantly; especially with that smile on her face.

"So you were out to kill her, is that right?" Lisa looks towards us, towards Charlotte. The man also followed her gaze, locking eyes with Charlotte.

"..." But he didn't speak a word after that. Lisa then took out the knife from the man's knee before putting it up to the man's throat, directing his attention back towards her.

"Who do you work for?"

"Go to hell, mutt-" His words however, ended abruptly as Lisa ends up tearing off his head in a single motion, causing my body to heat up uncontrollably. I quickly look away, shielding my eyes in Charlotte's chest as she almost immediately held me by the back of my head, gently patting me.

"Did you really have to go that far, Lisa?" Charlotte's words had a hint of anger behind them as she directs it to Lisa. But I refuse to look away, keeping my face turned to her chest as she continues to hold me close. "You know Shiro wouldn't like that."

"I'm sorry, Shiro..." Lisa apologizes, which I do accept. I know she didn't mean to. If anything it's my fault I reacted that strongly to it. "Still though, what's a vampire doing there? I doubt he tailed you all the way to that house."

"I agree. It was like he was already stationed there when we arrived."

"So then he must've knew you were coming?"

"That's my guess." During their little exchange, I'm still trying to calm down my beating heart, but it just doesn't seem to be calming down, even when I'm being held by Charlotte...
