Chapter 440: Entry Fee
"Huh?" The elder didn't think Lu Chen would say something like that. He asked, "Don't ever say never. How about we discuss this somewhere else." He noticed how the clerk regretted selling the pendant to Lu Chen.
"...Sure," Lu Chen sighed as he walked out with the elder. The two didn't need to walk so long as they arrived at a small tea shop. It seemed the elder was a regular as the clerk greeted him and gave a seat to them.
"Try some of this tea. It's one of my favorites." And the two were served some tea. Lu Chen looked at the tea, and when he was about to take a sip,
"Woah, this is some expensive stuff!"
"Kid, do you know what kind of tea this is?" The elder said with surprise.
Lu Chen shook his head, "I don't know what kind it is. However, given the aroma and the sweet taste, this isn't your average green tea."
The elder laughed, "You've given the best description compared to the people of your age. You're right. This isn't your typical tea. This is Longjing tea."
Lu Chen's eyes widened, "What? It's that tea?!"
"So you know?"
"Of course. This is something my grandpa would seldom drink with his friends." Lu Wencheng kept talking about the tea, and he heard about it. Lu Chen looked down at his drink. It was over 1 million yuan per kilogram!
"Haha, relax. I will be paying for it." The elder laughed as he continued, "But enough with the pleasant talks. Do you know about the history of the pendant?"
"I know more than enough that the clerk doesn't understand the value of a Qin dynasty pendant. And he sold it to me for 2000 yuan." Lu Chen laughed.
"Tch!" The elder scoffed, "Then I guess using money to buy it off you wouldn't help."
"Yep." Lu Chen nodded, "There is no point in talking about it."
"Hold your horses. How about we make a wager for it."
"Not interested." Lu Chen was instant with his response.
The elder gave a defeated expression, " Come on, brat. At least give this elder a chance to get this pendant."
"But what do I get from it? If I give you a chance, I would lose something without gaining anything." Giving the elder a chance without getting something in return? That did not sound right to him.
"...I'll give you half a kg of this tea." The elder sighed.
"1kg." Lu Chen raised the stakes.
"...Fine!" The elder huffed.
Lu Chen smiled, "Alright, what are you willing to wager for my pendant?"
"...What?" Am I hearing things? "Didn't I wager 1kg of Longjing tea?!"
"That was an admissions fee. You have to wager something of equal value to my pendant."
"..." The elder was speechless. The next second, he screamed, "You're extorting me!"
Lu Chen shrugged, "So what if I'm extorting you? I'm not the one who wants the pendant."
"..." The elder gritted his teeth. This sneaky little kid! But Lu Chen was right,
"I will wager a jade pendant."
"What kind?"
The elderly man took something off his neck, "I will wager this pendant."
"..." Lu Chen looked at the jade pendant. Unlike the white one in his hand, it was smaller than it. But the difference is the necklace was made out of imperial jade!
"Alright." Lu Chen nodded as he placed the white pendant on the table with the other.
The elder huffed with anger, "What kind of cheeky kid are you?"
"This cheeky kid's name is Lu Chen, elder." Lu Chen smirked as he sipped his tea, "And what about your name?"
"You can call me Muyang," Muyang said with a smirk.
