"Fearful Thoughts, I muttered and tested the name on my tongue." Seemingly in answer I heard a loud piercing noise above me. Looking up I noticed a large horrifying giant raven, or at least that was what it should have been if not for the human face that was in its head, and the ripped bones that stuck out from the eagles body laced with some greenish looking liquid. Dodging, somehow, the first attack of the raven, I heard a large thud from down below as a pieced chair was thrown off the roof catching the attention of the Guards down below. Watching as the chair melted into a puddle at the bottom of the house I felt a cold sweat pass through me.
"Sir Eagle, said I, or madam, truly your forgiveness I implore, but you see I was just gently walking, when you came oh, so gently knocking..." 'Dodge,' the thought crossed my mind as the raven once more attacked me. As my failed attempt at humor made me lose the last bit of fake sanity I had left in the face of such danger. Truly today had been nothing but one test after another.
From Roof to ground I jumped as I made it into the yard of the next house over from me. Looking at the Guards I realized that although they were fast they couldn't go over things. It seemed as if it was against their very nature to do such a thing. That meant on roofs I was safe from them. It made me realize why the person previously had a base set up on a house. However that made me worry about what had killed the guy.
Looking at the large buildings I decided I needed to make it to one of them so I could lose my pursers. The only problems I faced was that I had enemies on the ground, an enemy in the sky, and I could only follow a trail of close houses to get there, oh, and that's only if I don't run into more flying enemies. That's when my legs locked up, unable to handle the pressure I put on them. Cursing my legs that had been weak for such a long time, and cursing my lack of ability to walk on them a thought crossed my mind as I started wondering something. Actually how had I run and walked on them so far already. My legs had been my weak point for as long as I could remember, so just what in the world happened.
"Host, for reaching the first Establishment with sentient life in the world, you have been rewarded with the achievement, Traveler. It makes your strength unable to be below that of the average human normal level human of any world you visit. It will in fact increase you muscle strength to that amount permanently. This amount however isn't instant, it needs a few moments to occur, which is why you are only 90% as strong as you could be currently. Understanding as I felt my muscles loosen up slightly feeling strength once more flood my body. I twisted and rolled over out of the way of an attack from the raven, and once more took off towards the large building that were in front of me.
"Looks like I can't let you reach me n-evermore." With that joke I started Sprinting instead of just running as I had earlier laughing in insanity at the whole situation and terrible world I found myself within. "Making my way house to house I eventually made it to one of the large buildings, this one appearing to be a forge of sorts. Crawling in through a broke window in the building I came inside only to see a glorious sight in front of me. Glowing people. The so called prisoners of this twisted world.
Achievement Accomplished, Finding People, Reward being handed out.
+1 Universal Charisma, allowing everyone to view this person a smidgen better involving what persona they consider perfect.
Warning host, this may cause misunderstandings with people as they might think your a playboy or some other miscellaneous persona.
You know, I am very proud of the reference to Edgar Allan Poe within this chapter.
Have some idea about my story? Comment it and let me know. I have a need for powers I could give the main character using his system, and I could always use ideas for different monsters he could end up running into. For now though I prefer ghost/undead type monsters.
