The familiar voice made Ji Yi's heart suddenly shudder, causing her phone to almost fall to the floor.
She stared at the flashing phone screen like an illusion had appeared. All of a sudden, she forgot to speak.
He Jichen waited a while, but seeing as Ji Yi still hadn't made a sound, he repeated, "Xiao Yi?"
Ji Yi shuddered from He Jichen's voice then she instinctively blurted out, "At..."
She made the call without knowing, so she hadn't planned what she was going to say to him. She replied with just one word then stopped.
"What's wrong?" probed He Jichen again, seeing as Ji Yi didn't say anything. After waiting just a few short seconds, his voice came out from the phone again. "Why aren't you saying anything?"
"No..." This time, Ji Yi didn't pause for too long. She quickly said something but stopped again after just one syllable.
Perhaps it was because she'd been crying far too heavily that her nose couldn't help but quietly sniff.
