Dinner With My Little Sister

I was quite curious about useless facts so, one morning when I found myself unable to wake up early, feeling low on energy and groggy, I searched through the internet for an answer.

What I found was even more surprising. It turns out that, losing even an hour of sleep could be detrimental to someone's health. Studies showed that if you don't complete that 8 hours of sleep and enter rem sleep, you'll wake up the next morning groggy and low on energy.

(Shun's POV)

"Onii-chan. What's our meal for today?" Miu came down from the flight of stairs with her eyes still droopy. She's rubbing her eyes, like what any other person will do when sleepy.

Speaking of which, I wonder what this action meant? I'm just curious. Useless fact or not, it's still a fact and I'm quite curious as to what it meant.

Without any hesitation, I approached Miu and wrapped her within my embrace.

"Good morning Miu. I cooked your favorite dish today." Actually, another one of Miu's favorite is meat spaghetti. And yes, I'm only saying this inside my head because I'm kind of embarrassed of what I'm doing.

Due to my unusual actions, Miu's sleepiness went away, replaced by a surprised and bewildered look. She's even blushing hard, how cute.

"W-Wha-What are you doing so early in the morning, onii-chan!? I-I'm still not ready for this!"

"Ready for what? I just wanted to greet you so I hugged you." I know, it sounds irrational but hey, why don't you try going to another country without any form of contact with your family? I think you'd feel the same. That's if you're a family man, anyway.

"G-Geez, onii-chan. Well, it's not like I dislike this, though…" After calming herself down, Miu closed her eyes and rested her head in my shoulders.

Although I wanted to enjoy this moment a little bit more, a pouting bunny came in to intervene.

"Squeak~! Squeak, squeak! Unfair~! Master, hug Tsuka too!" With that said, she forcefully inserted herself between the two of us, ruining whatever atmosphere we had going.

Also, Tsuka joining us was not as bad. I consider her as part of the family as well so it's like a family hug.

Unlike me though, Miu briefly showed a disappointed look on her face, only to disappear within seconds when she rubbed her face against the cute ball of fluff who goes by the name of Tsuka. She's been doing this everyday when she gets her hands on Tsuka.

She likes animals but her face, which is almost as if she's drooling when she's attempting to pet them, was anything but inviting for the animals. Only Tsuka wouldn't run away from her the moment Miu run towards her with eyes shining and an intense atmosphere going around her.

"O-Oh, yeah. Tsuka's here too. Hellooo Tsuka~! Good morning." Miu continuously rubbed her face against Tsuka's, although Tsuka didn't seem to mind it that much.

"Squeak! Morning, Miu!" She even greeted her back as if nothing's wrong.

Since I'm somehow satisfied now, getting to see and touch one of my family members again, I pulled away from the hug and, after patting the two girls on the head, proceeded to finish preparing the table.

My previous homesickness acting up aside, after I was done preparing the table — Miu and Tsuka helped when they saw me arranging the dishes — we began to eat our breakfast.

"Well, let's eat? Itadakimasu." I put my hands together in prayer. Miu and Tsuka did the same.

"Itadakimasu."

"Squeak~! Itadaki, masu~!"

We're just saying this out of habit at this point but, according to our parents, 'itadakimasu' meant 'i received this food' or something. It was said to thank whoever brought the food to the table.

As an aside, I didn't teach Tsuka to do these kinds of gestures. She learned it by herself.

"Mm, yum! As usual, the meals you cook are really delicious, onii-chan!" Miu said while voraciously chomping on some rice and curry. So this is why I felt like Ichika's way of eating was so familiar…

I have to wonder though, where does all the food she eat go? I don't see her getting fat at all, with all the food she eats everyday.

"Also, *munch* muggu, mgggu!" After saying one word, Miu munched on another spoonful of food, and another one.

"Squeak~! Master, this delish~!" Look, even Tsuka's trying to copy you.

"Speak after you swallowed the food. Also, Tsuka, don't copy her, okay? It's a bad habit."

"Mggu, *munch* *munch*… *gulp*, okaaay! Geez, how strict."

"Squeak! Tsuka understands!"

"So, what was it that you wanted to talk about, Miu?" Once we were done eating, I asked Miu that question.

As an aside, Tsuka is on her seat, rubbing her stomach with an expression full of bliss. She's probably still relishing on the taste of the food or something.

"Right, well, me and my party wanted to go to the Second Town ASAP because, you know? We want to get ahead of the competition. Taku's and the other beta player's parties aren't ready to take on the Blade Lizard yet so we wanted to take this chance…"

"In short, you want me to accompany you?"

"Yep! We promised to go on an adventure together, remember? This is our chance!"

"Okay but, how many people are in your party?"

At my question, Miu paused for a second, probably counting the number of her party members, before saying, "There's four of us right now. You met the two of them while the other one is someone we just met yesterday. There's me, a Paladin, Luka-chan, our party leader and melee DPS, Hino-chan, our mid-range attacker and CC, and there's Tobi-chan, another melee DPS and our scout…"

Miu was kind of boasting at first but her tone gradually changed to that of embarrassment. She probably noticed the imbalance of her party, lacking a magic damage dealer and all.

They also don't have a tank. Well, it's not like I can say much. Our group is also severely lacking in magic damage.

Oh right, if I remember correctly, before I left, I told Rokuko to get her hands on a VR Gear so that she could play with us. Rokuko is quite compatible with magic so I suggested to her to pick up some magic related skill when we're in game.

"Hmm… How about this? I'll introduce you to my friends. We're planning on creating a small Guild later so… Actually, why don't you and your party join us? Shizuka-nee have her own Guild so we can't really invite her but we two would be on the same Guild."

"That means… Me and onii-chan will go on even more aventure from now on!? I'm in!" Do you even know what 'aventure' meant?

Aventure meant adventure in French. Although she was not entirely wrong per se, but it also had a meaning of love adventures and playing with fire.

"Ask your friends for their opinions first. Alright? Anyway, I'll contact my friends in-game about this so that two of my friends could join you in fighting the Blade Lizard. I already passed that boss yesterday so…"

To be fair, I could join her along with Satania-san or Kaede-san but I wanted to help Pochi, Tama, Mutsuko-san, and Rikka to also he able to go to the Second Town. Rokuko would also be joining us so, if we're going to form a Guild, we already have two complete parties.

"How unfair! You didn't invite me to your adventure, onii-chan!?" Miu literally flew from her seat and grabbed me by the collar, shaking me intensely.

"Next time. We'll kill Golem-sensei together, just the two of us. Is that fine by you?"

Upon hearing my words, Miu stopped dead in her actions. She stared at my eyes for a few seconds, probably discerning if I'm lying or not.

"Alright, you don't seem to be lying." See? She really was trying to tell if I'm lying.

"It's a promise, alright onii-chan!? By the way, thank you for the delicious food~! Mwuah!" She spoke in a rapid fire of words and, after kissing me on the cheek, she ran upstairs like a flash.

"That girl… She's so free spirited. Well, might as well go check out the game. Let's go, Tsuka."

Picking up the still unmoving bunny who's caressing her stomach for a while now, I went upstairs and inside my room. That's until I noticed that I forgot to place the dishes on the dishwasher.

Placing Tsuka on the bed, I went back downstairs.

"Come to think of it, what would Tsuka do whilst I'm away playing games? She's always been inside my so-called spirit whenever I'm playing a VR game but I don't think she'd enjoy playing it as much."

With that in mind, I searched through the [Dimensional Shop] for what I could give her and my eyes eventually landed on the VR Gear. It doesn't specify whether other races couldn't use it so… I might as well give it a try, right?

Besides, Tsuka is really intelligent so she might be able to play VR with us. I know, it's a stupid thought but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Thus, on a whim, I bought another VR Gear. Good thing the VR Gears bought from the [Dimensional Shop], including those upgraded by the system, can conform to the size of the user's head.

With a VR Gear in tow, I went back upstairs to teach our resident bunny how to play a VR game.
