Chapter 13: Old Prophecy and White Lies

For the entire time, she was secretly looking at her finger which the ring can be seen. She didn't listen to the teacher who taught in front of the classroom.

Halora was thinking about how to pull it off. She's been trying to take it off from her finger but the ring was too strong and powerful.

Since Sandra provoked her earlier, she crumpled the basket and collapsed. The next thing, the woman in black and now a ring which glowed and sparkled.

"How about you, Miss Chui!"

The entire class looked in her way and waited for her answer. But Halora was still looking at the ring without knowing that she was called by her music teacher.

"Hey, you are being called by Mrs. Wang!" Fortunately, Roy was seated in the next row after Halora's seat. He poked her back secretly that brought her back to reality.

She stood up and looked down at the floor. She didn't hear the question, "I'm sorry, Ma'am but can you please repeat the question?"

Roy was staring at her back as he held his breath. He was afraid that she might not know the answer and then everyone will laugh at her.

He quickly took a ballpen and a piece of paper. He wrote the answer and crumpled it like scratch paper. "Halora," he whispered and put the paper under her chair.

Mrs. Wang took a deep sighed and said, "Who was the famous pianist that composed the popular Nocturne?" She then crossed her arms, looked at her hand, and noticed a sparkling ring on her finger.

But she ignored it and looked into Halora's eyes.

Sandra and her friends giggled as they thought of an epic answer. But she opened her mouth and said, "Chopin," she then looked at Mrs. Wang.

"Very well said, Miss Chui but next time, do not waste your time in looking at your ring during my class. Do you understand?" She gave her a genuine smile and turned her back to write something on the board.

Roy was mesmerized by Halora's way of answering. She was calmed, steady, and smart. "I'm glad you remember the correct answer!" He told her but she bowed her head and seated.

Sandra closed her fists as she said the correct answer. She was too jealous of her intelligence and she couldn't lie to herself that a poor girl, Halora is smarter than her.

"I hate her so much!" She scowled until she caught a glimpse of a beautiful ring on Halora's finger. "Mrs. Lee won't stop me from my plans, she will regret protecting poor students like that freak girl!"

Until the class ended, she was staring at the ring. Sandra never learned from her mistakes and so, she planned to steal them and play with Halora until she sees her cry.

Mrs. Wang dismissed the class as she finished teaching. Little did she know, a big occurrence will take place as Sandra stood up from her seat.

Shen then walked in front of her classmates that caught Roy's attention. "What the hell are you doing?" He asked his hard-headed cousin but Sandra shrugged off her shoulder.

She was smirking as her friends stood and supported their cruel leader. "Halora!"

"Halora!"

"Halora!"

"Why don't you lift your head and look at me? Are you afraid to tell everyone what you did earlier?" She was clapping her hands loudly. "Do you still remember this?"

Roy was about to stand and stop Sandra but there was an arm that tapped his shoulder. "Sit down, you don't have to argue with her always."

"But Halo–"

"The more you give her attention, the more she becomes confident in hurting other people." She told him calmly then snatched her bag from her seat.

Halora walked quickly into the door and look for Sebastian. She has something to tell him about the ring.

"Please, let me pass Sandra. I... I have something important to do...," she begged but Sandra pushed her forcibly enough to make her fell to the floor.

"Sandra!"

Roy clamored upon seeing his childhood friend being bullied by anyone else. He suddenly rans towards Halora and helped her to stand.

But Sandra won't let her pass through the door. She ordered them to close the other way out of their classroom and smirked at them.

"I'll let you but in one condition," she said, looking at the entire class.

Few of their classmates recorded what was happening and Halora was in the spotlight. And others were gossiping and ignored them.

However, as the ring stayed near Halora, it the more likely she will be in danger. It was powerful, and the real owner must be searching for the lost ring.

Roy pulled Sandra's arm but before he could say a word, someone from behind hit him with a baseball bat.

"Stop! Please stop it!"

"My cousin is your weak knight shining armor! Because of you, I have to hurt him, you bit–"

Sandra was left speechless. Even the rest of them was surprised by a sudden flash of lightning. She never thought of seeing it with her naked eyes but...,

"Your ring! Yo–your ri–the ring is glowing!" Everyone covered their eyes to protect themselves from the luminous lightning. They couldn't believe that a single, and simple ring would glow that bright!

"What the heck is going on?" One of the students exclaimed as he tried to open his eyes and looked for the mysterious ring.

But he was terrified of its yellowish color. It seemed like a fire that is keen to scorch anything and anyone.

Halora suddenly felt a warm, burning sensation in her right hand. And the only thing she knew, she lifted his hands to protect him from Sandra.

"You are a freak! You are a freak!" spoke a young girl behind Halora who was frightened of her.

She burst into tears as she couldn't understand what is wrong with her. She wanted to live a simple, peaceful life but trouble would always be at her side.

She then earned enough courage to run and grabbed her bag from the ground.

What will she do to the ring? Would Halora threw it far, far away or she will keep and hide it for good?

But what if the ring she found was in the old prophecy? Will she choose to believe in it or white lies shall remain?
