Chapter 14: Black Magic

Halora chased her breathe as she reached the school's garden. Her heartbeat was too fast and loud.

"What happened earlier?" She asked and looked at the bright sky.

Few students loitered around the wide garden. Most of them talked with their friends and boyfriends, but she was at the corner by herself.

Halora stared at the ring on her finger. She couldn't it sparked for the second time as she tried to protect herself from Sandra.

"Leave me alone! I... I don't need your help!" She screamed, spoke to the ring as if it could utter a single word.

She attempted to pull it off but it was too strong enough. She felt hopeless and weak. Still, she wore the mysterious ring.

"Tell me, what is your plan for me? I know you're just more than a thing...," she mumbled, rested her head, and closed her eyes.

Under the bright sky, a young girl hoped for an answer to her questions. A magical ring abruptly appeared out of nowhere that changed her life.

"Open your heart and the light in you will shine." A beautiful voice echoed around which have made her alive again.

She listened to the voice, "You shall not throw that ring in you. It possessed with white magic which is the only way to defeat the enemies."

"Wh–what? I... do not understand!"

"You don't have to understand everything that happened. Open your heart, open your eyes and you will know the answer why you are being chosen."

It was a voice of a woman who seemed to be a sprite. "One last thing, do not surrender the ring to anyone else. Do not let the enemy own it or it would be the end of the world."

It was the last she heard and the voice disappeared. Halora slowly opened her eyes, looked around the garden, and narrowed her eyes.

"Am I the only one who heard that voice?"

"What are you talking about? Voice of?" spoke a man behind her.

Halora stood up from the grass and was about to run away. Little did she know, it was Sebastian Woo who waited for her.

He said, "Where do you think you're going?" He held her right arm and pulled the young girl closer to his chest.

Halora gulped as she smelled his body scent. She looked away from his deep gaze and tried to escape but he was too rigid.

"Don't move and stand still! Sandra searched for you and this is the only way to hide you from her." Sebastian embraced her tightly.

He put his arms around her waist and kissed her forehead.

Halora held her breath as she felt a warm, tender forehead kiss. It seemed like a dream come true like Cinderella who met her prince charming.

"Se–seb?" She uttered his name shortly. "Did she saw us?" She added.

"She's still around with her friends. Stay there and smell my chest," He giggled and lied to her. Sandra wasn't around and searched for her.

It was just part of Sebastian's plan. He chuckled secretly while his friends stood from a distance.

"Halora," he called her.

"Where is she now?"

He combed her long hair and replied, "I love the smell of your hair." It smelled like vanilla blended with daisies and roses.

Sebastian loathe anyone who called her ugly duckling. For him, she was a beautiful girl with a beautiful soul. Halora was different from all the girls he met with.

"I... I can't breathe! Se–seb, please, let me–" she paused and felt his tight embrace.

Roy and Sandra stopped from a distance. With the rest of the students, they watched them together.

Unbelievably, they never imagined a campus bad boy embraced a young, poor girl who was a victim of bullying.

"Is that Sebastian Woo?" A girl from the senior high spoke. She was unaware that in front of her was Sandra who clenched her fists angrily.

"Shut your mouth up!" Sandra flipped her away and walked like a Queen.

From afar, she exclaimed, "Seb! Stay away from that witch!"

Halora was afraid that she might fell into an enemy's trap. She knew Sandra and she was determined to steal everything she wanted.

"Back off, Sandra! Halora is not a witch like you!" spoke Sebastian who protected the girl beside him.

"Wh–what are you talking about? I... I am not wi–witch, Sandra!" She asked her, closed her fists, and hide the ring.

Sebastian was confused by Sandra's accusations. How could be an ordinary student became a witch? In the modern world, witches don't exist anymore.

He burst into laughter and looked into her eyes. "Show me the evidence," he said shortly.

"That girl behind you is a witch! Believe me, Seb, Halora is a witch and if you want evidence..., check the ring on her finger!"

"No! No! You can't do this to me, Sandra!"

Halora's voice sounded off around the school's garden. The bright sky suddenly turned into a gloomy, dark sight. But no one has ever noticed it.

She stopped Sandra from coming closer to her but she was too weak. Sebastian tried to meddle in between but Sandra quickly grabbed her arm.

Unfortunately, the ring rolled out into the grasses. "No! Please, don't steal it from me!" She screamed at Sandra who searched for the ring too.

Until they both fell to the ground and the students yelled. "Sandra, please stop it!" Sebastian said. He pulled her away from Halora but she abruptly pulled her hair.

"Awww! My ha–hair! Sa–Sandra, pl–please let go of my ha–ha–"

"I hate you so much! And I don't understand why are you even here, Halora Chui?"

Anger and jealousy propelled Sandra to slap her in the face. Halora was caught off guard as she felt the pain traveled into her system.

"He–help me! please, help me!"

"This is for stealing Seb from me!" spoke Sandra who slapped her for the second time around.

She was on top of Halora. No one dared to stop the campus crush except Sebastian who held Sandra's arm. "I SAID STOP!"

"Se–seb?"

"Sebastian!"

Both of them stopped, and Sandra gulped as she saw Mrs. Lee behind Sebastian.

"See the two of you in my office, now!" The school's principal witnessed everything and she exclaimed furiously.
