How Dare You?

Sarah's POV:

I was confused about what to do. How do I explain to them that I can't go to the gala after I have given Anthony my word?

Next time, I will learn to not agree without asking Elma first.

*

It was already evening, and I looked out of the window when I saw Anthony's car drive in. My palms were sweaty because I didn't know how to tell him that I wouldn't be there.

"Where is Elma?" Anthony asked someone, and I heard footsteps coming towards my bedroom. Then an idea came to mind.

"Yes Mother"

"Today is Kim's gala; why did you have to be sick tonight?" I said it loudly and placed the phone next to my ear.

"I wish I could come be with you." I knew Anthony was standing at the door; I had to make it more convincing.

"You want me to be there? How about I come there first before going to the gala?" I questioned and talked for a while before faking to end the call.

I sighed and turned to face the door, then I feigned to be surprised that Anthony was standing there.

"Anthony," I called in a surprised tone.

"You are not yet ready?" He asked, and I didn't know how to reply. Did my plan not work or what?

"I…uhm, I will get ready now."

I had to go see Elma's mom or else there would be trouble. Now, how do I escape this?

"Good," he said before he left. I felt like crying, and I sat on the bed with a frustrated look, then Anthony came back.

"You should go see your mom and join us at the gala later," he added before leaving immediately.

My lips curled in a smile; he wasn't that bad. I thought for a moment that he was so heartless that he pretended not to hear my conversation.

I quickly got dressed in the evening gown I found in Elma's closet; it was still brand new. I hoped she wouldn't mind me wearing this; it was so beautiful, sleeveless, and had diamonds attached to it.

Then I brushed my hair slightly. I noticed Elma loved curling her blonde hair, but I didn't have time to take a machine and do that. So I picked up my purse and left.

There was no one in the sitting room, so I walked outside when the driver walked towards me. "Mrs. Wistold, the master asked that I drive you to your parent's place before later bringing you to the gala," he explained, and I smiled. That was so kind of him.

"He said I should make sure you are going to your parent's place and not somewhere else," the driver added. I was too fast to compliment that arrogant man.

"Fine," I said as I walked into the car. After all, I didn't even know the direction to Elma's parent's house, and she didn't tell me about her family, so how was I going to know them?

I decided to do what I had failed to do for the past few months: search for Elma's family. I was always curious to search for information about them and know if Elma was adopted or not, but I didn't since Elma wasn't interested in finding out.

"Elma." As soon as I typed her name, a lot of articles popped up. I scrolled for a while before finding one where she stood with an older woman. It was written below that Elma Wistold looks stunning with her mom.

Her mom was so beautiful, then there were others where she stood with two men in their forties; they must be her brothers.

I searched about her family during the entire drive. "We are here, ma'am," the driver said, and I looked outside. Since it was evening, there were a lot of lights at the entrance to the house.

"Thanks," I said before walking out. I was so nervous as I took several steps forward.

"Elma," an older woman, called from the door before she happily approached me with open arms. She pulled me in for a hug, and I was so nervous that I even forgot to hug her back.

"Why are you dressed this way? Oh, it's Kim's gala tonight," her mom said. She even looked more stunning in person with those adorable short brown hairs of hers.

"You knew?" I was puzzled. If she knew it was Kim's gala, then why did she call me here today?

"Yes, but I thought you wouldn't go as usual. Come in. Your father is waiting," she directed me inside. When we arrived in the sitting room, I wasn't so surprised by how big and beautiful it was; I mean, I expected it.

Then some pairs of eyes gazed at me; it was Elma's two older brothers and her dad. This place was like a palace; there was a king, a queen, the heir, a prince, and their lovely princess, Elma Wistold.

"Elma, come with me." Her dad stood up and walked away. I looked at Elma's mom, and she had a sad look. One of the brothers had a sympathetic look, while the other had a mocking sneer.

I followed her dad outside to the balcony, when I got there. I stood in front of him, and he raised his hand before slapping me hard across the face.

"How dare you!!!" He scolded me, and I held my cheeks tightly. Did he find out about me?

"What type of person have you become?" his eyes were filled with rage and I had to take two steps backwards, my cheeks hurt a lot as I could not control myself from crying, tears came rushing down my cheeks.

"Answer me!!" he yelled, and I still couldn't comprehend what happened. Why did Elma send me here without warning?

Now all I wanted to do was confess to him, tell him that I wasn't Elma, and apologize.
