"There isn't anything TO negotiate," the female agent hissed. "You just killed Lion, Cobra, and Magpie without warning!"

Alex raised an eyebrow. "I don't think you have any right to complain about people getting killed considering your line of work, Fox. You chose this life. You know the risks involved. And let me tell you…using someone important to me as bait was the biggest risk you've taken yet."

The only other living regular agent turned to Fox uneasily. "He's talking almost like a normal person. I've never heard anything like this from a Number before. It might be best not to antagonize him."

He was right. Hearing Alex talk compared to an average person was a bit jarring but now that Claire had met other Numbers and knew what they were like it was obvious he had become quite different from them.
