Destroying the Necromechanical Terror

Hendrix woke up at his last save point, though he was eerily silent. He then began the first phase of his plan.

[Tribulation Hidden Side Quest Discovered.]

[Destroy the Necromechanical Terror!]

[Quest completion details]

1) Find a way to destroy the Necromechanical horror.

[Accept or Decline]

[Y/N]

'I accept the quest.' Hendrix thought as he clenched his fists.

[Noted]

First, he searched for a source of water. Once he saw it, he built a makeshift axe, pickaxe, hammer, and shovel. Afterward, he attempted to dig a massive hole nearby.

Only stopping to rest, bathe, eat, drink, sleep, replace broken tools, and when nature calls, at the same time, trying to avoid monsters but still dying many times to them.

He finally finished his task after trying to complete his goals for thirty years. He dug a hole five hundred feet wide and long but one hundred feet deep.

He also dug out a ramp at a one-degree angle. It allowed him to walk into the hole comfortably, though it would take five minutes to reach the end of it.

Once he finished this, he began to chop down trees in the area. He then killed all the tiny monsters within since these were closer in strength to animals than anything supernatural. He then cut off the bark in long strips.

Hendrix cut the logs into flat planks after he cut down enough for his purposes. He then chopped down another tree and got rid of the bark. Once he did this, he cut wheels out of it.

He then made a primitive strange vehicle. It had four wheels and moved similarly to a bicycle. He continued building in a trial-and-error manner, spending three years perfecting it.

The custom design was as follows. It had a place for a person to sit, and behind that was an area with a top loaded with food and other essentials.

It also had a fifteen-foot long and ten-foot wide area where someone could put extra cargo. It had five-foot tall walls so that the possible load couldn't fall out. Four were made by Hendrix when he finished building, and they were extremely sturdy.

Hendrix then pedaled into the forest. And he stopped at every boulder he could and cut them into small stone slabs he could pick up.

Once he did this, he loaded them onto his vehicle and pedaled them back to the hole. He did this many times. As a result, he cleared all the boulders in the vicinity.

Once this occurred, he flattened the bottom of the hole and cut all the slabs into stone blocks before using these blocks to cover the dirt on the bottom, becoming a floor.

He then created rope with the inner part of the tree bark he cut off. He used this rope to tie together the planks. However, Hendrix repurposed some of the planks into supporting beams.

Slowly he built his residence. As he did, he planned to use the save point when he completed his new side quest. So he'll be able to use it as the place he lives for the rest of the Tribulation.

As he built, he placed stone around the wooden pillars and used mud to bind them alongside the wooden rope.

It took a few centuries to finish as parts of the building collapsed or broke, and Hendrix died and had to start over completely. Hendrix completely camouflaged his residence at the end of his construction.

A foot of dirt covered the residence once he finished. The ramp was mostly covered up, with only a compact entrance visible that could fit only one of Hendrix's custom vehicles inside. However, it had a hatch that could be closed.

The building would have many rooms, though most were for storage. And it had ten floors, though all were nine feet tall. No wood parts would be visible, as it was covered by stone, as Hendrix didn't want his place to catch fire by mistake.

Wooden crates filled the storage rooms. It also had a bedroom with a bed covered in large blankets made of monster fur.

He also made plenty of other additions to make his time in the Tribulation easier, like an underground canal that brought water to his residence. He also had a fireplace with a large stone bowl above it so he could heat water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning.

Hendrix began the second stage of his plan as he pulled a pair of gloves from a crate.

'Guide, what's the mushroom name that can melt bones?' Hendrix asked as he needed to know it for the next stage of his plan.

[The mushroom species' name is Exirch]

'Thanks for the information.' Hendrix said as he began to put all the gear he needed on.

[Acknowledged]

Hendrix loaded many crates into a custom vehicle and pedaled into the forest. He searched for as much Exirch as possible, as he felt he needed an extreme amount for his plan to work.

He spent two years filling all the crates with it, taking it back and grinding it up into a paste, and then going out again to get more.

He also compressed them and put the paste into resilient monster skin sacks.

He then captured weak vole-like monsters and strapped a sack onto each of their backs. This action made it so the monsters could not escape due to the weight. He captured three hundred of these in total and fed them all.

After, he went to sleep, knowing tomorrow was time to see if his plan could work and if his preparations were enough.

Next morning

'Guide, is the quest still there?' Hendrix asked, as he didn't know if he had taken too much time to prepare.

[It is Hendrix, you didn't fail the quest.]

'Alright, I hope this works as I don't want to spend a few centuries preparing again. Though if it comes to that, I won't mind.' Hendrix thought as he exited his bed and cleaned himself inside a stone bath filled with hot water.

Once he finished, he dried off and got dressed, and after, he made breakfast. It contained a type of fried mushroom, eggs, and meat. He ate this meal with relish as he readied himself for his Quest.

After this, he placed all the monsters he captured in one of his vehicles. At the same time, he acquired a giant sack for himself and strapped it on. He then pedaled toward where he last saw the Necromechanical Terror.

A day passed, and once he got there, he waited and waited. Until he heard a loud but deep sound go off. This time, the Necromechanical Terror didn't attempt to destroy the surroundings.

Instead, it approached, seeming like it glided across the horizon. When it arrived, it grabbed the vehicle with Hendrix and the monsters. It quickly lifted them into the air and far above the trees. And it brought them to a cage, and the bars moved again to let the vehicle through.

Hendrix smiled as he got off and unloaded all the monsters. As he did, the Necromechanical Terror walked in another direction as each step caused the ground to crack from its mountainous weight and size. It let out deep sounds and released red mist and chunks as it walked.

'It's time to see if this works.' Hendrix thought as he saw the hole in the middle of the ceiling open. He quickly hid underneath the vehicle as he watched.

A day passed, and during this, the metallic tentacle grabbed most of the monsters Hendrix brought in, along with the sacks attached to their backs. As this continued, Hendrix began to get more and more nervous. As he felt his centuries of planning might go to waste.

When only twenty-five monsters remained, the tentacle ceased entering. And suddenly, the Necromechanical Terror began to bellow loudly as its frame began to crack.

The bony skeleton of the Necromechanical Terror weakened so much by the Exirch that it began to fracture. It resulted in the runic circles malfunctioning inside before explosions ravaged the interior.

[You have completed the Destroy the Necromechanical Terror Side Quest]

[You have created a save point. Do you wish to save?]

[Y/N]

'Yes, I would like to save.' Hendrix replied as he felt like his preparations were worth it.

[Noted]

The Necromechanical Terror began to sway from side to side as it struggled to walk.

The explosion's intensity rose as its light and crystalline visor shattered. Once done, it fell forward as it quickly plummeted downward.

'Guide, am I doomed to die over and over for eternity?' Hendrix thought as he felt that was a possibility since he saved at this time.

[No, you have ten seconds of invulnerability when you hit the ground to ensure that doesn't happen. Though you'll feel all the pain still.]

'Crap.' Hendrix thought while flinching.

Once the Necromechanical Terror crashed into the ground, an earthquake, five on the Richter scale, resulted. And it lasted five minutes as the ground began cracking.

AGH!" Hendrix yelled in agony as he flew into the ceiling. Though not physically damaged, he felt all the pain before landing on the ground again. He quickly climbed up and left the cage through a space a bar broke off from before the roof caved in.

'I kind of want to see the place where the visor was.' Hendrix thought while scratching his chin as he walked towards the front of the Necromechanical Terror. He then climbed inside.

Once Hendrix entered, he saw something that chilled him to the core. It looked like a control room filled with the bodies of strange creatures. They had long spindly bodies with six limbs. Each limb had three appendages with a suction cup on the end, and spikes and spines covered them.

Their heads had a trunk-like structure on the front, which ended in another three appendages. They had three dull eyes on the top of their heads that looked wholly alien, each on stocks.

'Guide, what is this?' Hendrix asked, very fearful.

[You need to eat a part of the thing's flesh to view its name and basic description.]

'Fine, I'll do it.' Hendrix said as he cut off a small piece of the thing's neck and chewed on it while gagging and flinching. Once he swallowed it, he waited for Guide to tell him the info.

[The thing you ate is a sentient species called a Kalackas.]

[They are a cold and calculating sentient species that uses Necromechanical Terrors to seek and capture living things. They then drain them of their blood and organs and cut out their bones. They also liquefy the organs.

They inject the blood and liquefied organs into their veins. In comparison, they use the bones to build more Necromechanical skeletons. Afterward, they bind metal plating on them while drawing runes.

Afterward, they discard the rest by pushing the waste through the gill-like structures. The Necromechanical Terrors they make are of wide varieties and require no fuel. As they are undead technically.]

[All other Necromechanical Terrors created are exponentially weaker than the one you destroyed. This one is the strongest and rarest type made in the Bygone Era by this civilization.

This particular one is impervious to most magic damage and physical force. But you used the one weakness it has to destroy it as a normal human being. Good job.]

'Alright, I should head back, I guess.' Hendrix thought as he left the Necromechanical Terror.
