Leaping from the window; she was fortunate that those guards weren't exactly setting up the tightest of patrols on account of the suspicious situation around the old manor. Essentially they were more focused on keeping themselves safe. Not even bothering to question a little black kitten climbing the outer wall.
Getting through the city was much more difficult… Because the rain was really heavy so her poor fur was a right old mess.
At least the thick humidity helped clear her nostrils from the obnoxious stench of humanity. Helping ease the struggle that came with her having a sensitive nose - plus she finally got to escape from that pesky celestial fiend that acted like it owned the sky. In that regard it was more pleasant than prior.
It was just that she couldn't help worrying about what this cold water would do to her poor young body no matter how strong she was. She wasn't exactly the peak of health in her past life. Not that she had much cause for concern as her current one far surpassed her original.
As such she found herself finally able to truly enjoy the sights of the feudal city; something she hadn't had much of a chance to do on account of her position.
<Considerably reduced activity from those humans, however.>
Shame… I wanted to study them in hopes of seeing if their spiritual pathways were any different from the humans I have studied before!
The little black kitten tuned out the complaints and theories of her other self, not that she didn't enjoy the sound of her own voice, as she took her sweet time. Truly letting herself take in the ambience. She hadn't stopped to think about it yet she now had a new chance at life.
Something she had never hoped for (knowing full well the plots of those in charge) so it took a moment to sink in. She would have maybe been concerned about the strange changes in herself if not for the overwhelming opportunity this all represented. A chance to live her life without stress.
You seem like you j~ust won the jackpot.
After not speaking up for ages; her more terrifying half finally spoke up to break the peace & quiet she had been enjoying.
Unlike the cat called Cheshire - who very much had a voice suitable for a teacher - this one had a voice that you couldn't tune out due to the constant shifting. It commanded presence while keeping everyone who heard it on edge. As such, the kitten couldn't help tilt her head at the abrupt comment.
A sudden bolt of lightning did nothing to make the cat jump, however, it did cause her shadow to extend across the rooftop. Previously being hidden by the dark. The kitty silently looked down on the street below as someone desperately ran through the rain with a piece of straw blanket held above their head.
<You have been rather quiet.>
Because I went on a bi~t of a sojourn at the local den where I had a pleasant game of poker.
<... Sure.>
She most definitely didn't believe that troublesome character but also didn't care enough to bring up the obvious flaws.
I doubt they even have poker in this country.
I suppose I'm a gre~at teacher.
Hmm that makes me wonder if a game like poker would become just as popular in another world.
Whatever gets the coins to change hands!
Seeing that those two were not about to stop any time in the future; the kitten decided it was time to stop lollygagging & move on back to the home of the girls. A simple enough task. Quickly making her way back with her perfectly remembering where the home was - cutting corners wherever she could.
This meant it took a fraction of the time it originally took her.
Just as she was about to arrive she raised her brow - seeing a figure in a black robe prowling around on the rooftops far in the distance. They had no clue about her spying. Not surprising since she wasn't exactly an obvious target.
As such she was free to watch that strange man as much as she wanted, his hand on what appeared to be the handle of a katana that was sheathed on his side, a butterfly sitting on his outstretched finger. It was an interesting sight. But what she felt was more interesting still.
Distance didn't matter when you were as perceptive as her. As such she easily felt how strong the sword wielding man was… He wasn't actually that strong. Still, he was far stronger than any of the other humans that she had seen in her time in this world as well as above average in those without the supernatural.
<He's also received at least a few years of training.>
Of course, as the one who nearly became the martial saint, she knew the signs of someone having received any form of formal training. The way he carried himself showed nervousness which caused him to focus on where he was putting his feet. Clearly falling back on what training he had received.
We didn't see anyone like that at the lord's manor or ; perhaps they come from some kind of special forces to put down those in the slums? No, forget that, that was a stupid theory. They may be from outside the city but all we can say for sure is that they're here to kill something, chehehe~.
Ho~hoho perhaps they are here to cu~t down some rabid a~ni~m~als who go around gobbling up other less wild animals; maybe even kil~l animals be~fore they can become rabid?
<Unlikely. >
Unlikely.
That is what is so great about gambling… You never know~.
Both decided to ignore their crazier counterpart as the rain showed signs of growing lighter - the last thing they wanted was to be around when the sun came back.
How sure are yo~u that the sun still exists above the rain clouds?
It was a question that got the kitten to pause for a moment.
Although obviously more of a philosophical than literal question it had quite the interesting meaning held behind it. How sure can you be that what you believe will happen will happen. There are always countless opportunities for things to change that are completely out of your control.
To Cheshire it was a random comment from a crazy cat but the kitten took it more as a warning.
"Don't let your guard down even as you relax as you have no idea what your next draw could be."
If in her own words.
Arriving at the little hut that the little girls called home; being able to make her way through a small hole within the roofing. Something she'd have to consider repairing in the future. Fortunately the two girls wre both fine with Hisana rubbing her little sister's hair with a dry cloth.
Rukia herself was just using a stick to continue drawing in the dirty ground. She wanted to say they looked like a good depiction of a wabbajack. Only problem was she doubted a monster that scary had ever visited that realm let alone left a little girl like Rukia alone.
"You should have come home as soon as it looked like it was going to rain." <Hisana >
"But I had to give my all!" <Rukia >
Throwing her arms up into the air as if daring someone to challenge her.
Fortunately her older sister managed to move her face out of the way of the little fist - leaning away from the little girl just as the bawled fist flew by. Letting out her frustrations she said "you" only to increase the power behind her hair drying. The little girl let out a giggle in response to her sister's revenge.
Looks like they don't e~ven ne~ed your money.
Of course they need money but they just don't consider the long term.
Maybe living in the moment is the way to happiness?
Pff~ what would you know about happiness when you revolve around taking it away~?
That cat just shook her head as the two began to compete with one another like children; she just didn't care as she lay atop the roof supports. Crossing her front paws to rest her fuzzy little chin atop them. Her gaze never left as the two sisters continued fussing about below.
Playing without giving a care in the world. Well, not so much with Hisana, she still had to step up to make sure that silly little sister of hers was properly dressed. Having to ensure that Rukia was in a nice worm change of clothes…
Well, as warm as she could manage to give her sister.
<Such innocence is worth protecting.>
Her whiskers bobbing about as she opened her mouth to finally let the pouch of ryo settle as she considered what she would do next. Most transitions seemed to have been done with rice with money essentially only filling the role of an IOU. Though, at the end of the day, it always had been.
This meant the lower class was likely not even going to accept the ryo she had stolen.
So she needed a way to safely fix that.
<Nothing is ever easy… Well, I can just figure all this out after sleep, worst case scenario I'll steal the rice and leave cash behind. Then need to slowly give it girls at a rate that won't catch any unnecessary attention operation.>
Shrugging her little shoulders as she closed her eyes; resting to the giggling of the two sisters.
