Since the carriage started moving an hour ago, Darius had been keeping his eyes closed. Xion had no idea if this child was awake or sleeping.
He silently sat in the corner, while rummaging through his bag. He had to run for his life the moment he woke up.
Without drinking even a sip of water, he had been playing hide and seek with Soren.
Hence, now his stomach was growling. Nonetheless, he was too embarrassed to ask for food from a child.
So, he secretly opened the system mall and ordered two packs of melon bread filled with sweet cream.
He pretended to take the bread out of his bag while his eyes secretly fell on the sleeping boy.
Perhaps the system did things according to the timeline, so the melon bread was not packaged in a plastic wrap. It was placed inside a small, wooden box, which could easily be used later.
The moment he opened the lid, a sweet aroma waffled out, filling the entire carriage with the sweet, enticing smell.
Xion rubbed his hands. His eyes shone greedily as he picked the bread up. Surprisingly, it was warm as if freshly baked in the oven.
He tore a small piece before stuffing it into his mouth. Xion moaned softly when his tongue tasted the familiar deliciousness. The crispy outer layer was perfect with the fluffy inner texture.
Before Xion could taste it to the fullest, his throat moved greedily and swallowed everything up. He took another bite and this time he ate a large portion.
He was literally stuffing his mouth and was oblivious that the sleeping boy had been staring at him for a long time.
Darius glanced at an unfamiliar food and then at the person eating it. Xion had a white creamy liquid staining the corner of his lip. In an instant, a pink tongue darted out and licked it away.
Darius' eyes narrowed slightly, "Is it that tasty?" his sudden cold and detached voice startled Xion so much that he almost choked.
"Ah? Oh... yeah?" Xion stammered, tilting his head.
When did this kid wake up? He silently wondered while taking another bite of the half-eaten bread.
His gaze fell on the pale face before slipping down to Darius' slim stomach.
"Do you want some? It's really delicious." Xion offered out of habit. Smiling slightly, he gave the wooden tiffin box to the weak child.
"I have an extra one. I am sure you will like it," Xion said while secretly praying that the boy would not take it.
After all, he was really hungry, and this kid did not lack anything, especially food.
However, Xion forgot one thing. His luck was always in negative.
Instead of fulfilling the dream of stuffing his face with two melon breads, he watched Darius slowly raise his bony hand to accept the tiffin!
Just like that, his hand went empty.
Xion, "..." No brother, where is your dignity as a prince? How can you take something from a pheasant? Give my food back!
Though, Xion cursed inwardly, his hospital-trained face did not let it show on his face.
There was still a warm smile on his lips as if encouraging Darius to open the box and eat it.
Those green eyes fell on Xion's lips before they moved to the box. With a small click the lid opened.
There was similar weirdly shaped food inside. He poked it experimentally, watching the slightly warm surface spring back into shape. "You made this?"
Xion could not say that he bought it. There was no such thing in this world.
Other than watching anime, he had a hobby of cooking in his free time. So, without worrying too much, he nodded his head.
Xion was onto his last bite when Darius finally picked the bread up. He suddenly had a suspicion that Darius deliberately waited for him to finish.
Because now, after he tasted the delicacy, he even had the urge to snatch the food back. From a child at that!
What a disgrace! Xion silently admonished his bad heart, yet his gaze fell back on the fluffy bread in Darius' hand.
At other times, Darius would have never eaten anything given by strangers. He had experienced more assassination attempts by poison than by arrows.
He had been looking at Xion, observing all those tiny details. The way those pink lips pouted, or the way those innocent blue eyes lit up with a genuine smile.
If this healer was not a stupidly good person, then he was definitely a master of hiding his true emotions.
It was best if this pretty boy was as foolish as he showed.
If it were the latter case, Darius had to admit that he had been successfully fooled.
He brought the bread to his lips before taking a small, cautious bite. His teeth sank into the crispy, golden crust.
A faint crackle sounded as the outer layer gave way to the soft, airy interior, and the creamy sweetness inside touched his tongue.
As he chewed, his face remained neutral, but the subtle widening of his eyes betrayed his astonishment.
"Delicious right?" Xion asked.
"Hmm."
A simple reply from the cold boy made Xion's smile widen slightly. He knew no one could resist melon bread.
All hail to sweets!!!
Black Box-
A fairy Xion came to grant a wish.
Berry, "I just want to live peacefully on a farm with lots of fluffy animals and my kids."
Xion grinned. "Simple enough. Done!"
Ray, "I want eight packs!"
Xion tilted his head. "... Al right, Done."
Finally, Darius glanced up from his seat, his green eyes locking onto Xion's as he smirked. "I want Xion."
Xion, "Sure-" He froze, blinking twice before nearly choking on his own words. "Wait what?"
However, it was already too late. Darius hugged the falling fairy in his arms and went inside his bed chambers in a good mood.
Ray, "May Goddess Myrthia forgive him... because she's certainly not getting her fairy back now."
