Arnold closed the door to Bel's bedroom and nearly yelped in fright. Nera was standing directly in front of him with a scowl on her face. "You scared me," he said and started walking away.
"You should be more than scared," she stated.
"Hold your tongue, woman," he snapped, turning his back to stare at the door. He didn't want to draw the attention of the vampire.
"If you had listened to me, we would have had this over with and done away with what was left. The vampire would have never found her."
"This is not the time to discuss this. I have a headache, why not come back when the sun has risen?" Arnold replied. He didn't slow down for her, nor did he raise his voice. Nera had to practically run to keep up with his speed. She couldn't help but think of how he could be this agile for his age.
