However, she won’t have minded his terrible traits if she loves him but she doesn’t, and neither does he love her. When her father says she has no option but to marry him, Bel vows to do everything in her power to make Davien hate her. If she can’t stop him from marrying her, she can at least make him end the marriage. She will be the worst bride ever. But this time, she encounters someone different—someone without the red eyes she has come to loathe. Yet, when she learns that he too craves blood, just like those who shattered her body, spirit, and soul, Mallory must confront her deepest fears. Can she open herself to him, or will he become yet another nightmare in her endless cycle of suffering? (Volume 2 will start in January)

Calm Before The Storm

"Do you understand?" Davien kept a stern look on his face as he spoke to Alexander.

Alexander's gaze darkened for a second, but he simply nodded. "I will go with you."

"There is no need for that. I will come find you in a few."

"No," Alex said stubbornly.

"What?" Davien asked. He couldn't figure out why he was so agitated. Was it Alex's demeanor or his insistence? Either way, he was thoroughly unnerved.

"No, I'd have to insist. I can't leave here without you."

"Davien," Bel interrupted. "I just want to change out of these soggy clothes. If it's important, you can leave."

Davien sighed and turned to face her. "Don't worry, I'll take you to your room." He started walking again, both of them quite aware of Alex's presence. Davien stopped in front of her door and unlocked it, walking into the room.

"Could you put me down, please?" Bel asked.

She sounded so polite it caught him off guard. "Yeah, of course." He slowly let her down.
