The demon king settled back into his throne with a look of unimpressed expectation. "We shall see," he said, lifting a hand. "Today's battle will be. different."

With that signal, creaking massive gates swung wide, revealing three huge creatures unlike anything he had ever seen: huge, armored beasts with eyes glowing like hot embers of red fire, their claws outstretched both long and menacing in appearance. Their growls echoed around the arena, making the skin crawl on his back.

"One opponent at a time is too easy for you, I think," the king of demons finally said, a sadistic grin spreading across his face. "Now, let's see how you do against three."

Alex's heart sank. He wasn't ready for this, period. Sure, his clones had been pretty helpful, but this? This was on an entirely new level of danger. With a deep breath, his head raced as he set himself up.

He couldn't show fear. Not in front of the Demon King.

The first creature leaped at Alex faster than he had anticipated for his size. Alex barely dodged it, rolling to the side while the ground cracked beneath the weight of the beast's claws.

The voice of the demon king then came from above. "Impressive. but let's see how long you can keep up." His tone was tranquil, without an iota of changes in his voice, but it carried malice that ran a chill down Alex's spine. The testing was on, he mused-the king trying to drive him beyond his limits.
