Chapter 67: Pieces Falling Together

Megumi meeting Mute was quickly spread through the Jujutsu High even reaching the higher-ups, shocking them. After Gojo was told about Mute meeting Megumi, he quickly told the higher-ups expecting them to make a move, which they did. 

Unbeknownst to Megumi, he was appointed several bodyguards who would follow him 24/7 to make sure Mute wouldn't speak to him again. The question running through the Jujutsu higher-ups was, why would Mute want to meet Megumi? 

If the Jujutsu higher-ups knew that Mute had met Megumi by chance, they would be embarrassed by their overreaction, as the news of Mute meeting Megumi quickly spread through the Jujutsu world. Gojo could be seen leaning on a black cushioned seat with his legs kicked up onto a wooden table.

Gojo had his hands behind his head, with hundreds of thoughts running through his mind...

What would be the benefit of meeting Megumi? I don't understand Mute's thought process unless he was actually just drunk and met Megumi by chance. Hmm, he asked if Megumi was a Zenin. Why would he do that? 

He wouldn't unless he had some type of history with the Zenin Clan. Megumi said he wasn't from the Zenin clan and Mute didn't kill him. So, there's a solid possibility his history with the Zenin clan is bad. If Megumi said he was a Zenin there's a reasonable chance Mute would have killed him.

So, Mute is someone with a troubled history with the Zenin clan but confusingly he worked with the assassin Null someone from the Zenin Clan. I glance up at the ceiling before taking my feet off the table, and sitting up in the chair.

I'll need to think about Null and maybe I can figure out who Mute truly is. Null's innate technique was repetition, a dangerous power if she can get many replays on your body. She basically can control your life and seeing how Mute left as soon as Null was killed, makes me think that Null forced him to assassinate Shoko with her. 

But Mute is a special grade, there's no way he'll let Null get that many replays on his body unless Null knew Mute before he was a special grade and was weaker than herself. I started to rub my chin before a grin appeared on his face. 

Mute abruptly appeared on the black market before disappearing for two years. It's like he was purposely hidden. Mute's cursed energy felt strangely familiar. I've seen him before, but I would surely remember someone with the amount of cursed energy he does, so I must have seen him before he was a special grade. The grin on my face grows larger as I start to put the pieces together. I start to repeat the information in my head.

Mute is an assassin with a history with the Zenin Clan. He abruptly came onto the scene before disappearing for two years. I've seen him before, and he has a close past with Null. Someone who was hidden and came onto the scene before disappearing. Someone who abruptly came onto the scene before vanishing or dying-

My eyes widen before the final piece of the puzzle slides into place and I murmur to myself. 

" So, that's who you are, Mute. "...

A day later, Mute could be seen standing on a cliff next to Geto. Directly behind him and Geto, Nanako and Mimiko were arguing with each other.

Mute and Geto were talking to each other while looking off the cliff, staring at a town hidden in the mountains. Geto was clearly waiting for something. Mute glanced over at Geto before speaking.

" This is the next town? Why would you choose such a barren town? " 

Geto glanced back at Mute before speaking.

" Because think of this town as a warm-up. In December which is only a month away, we're going to start our plan to steal Rika from Yuta, and we need to make sure our teamwork is good. That's why we're waiting for the other sorcerers in our little group to show up "
