Episode 13: Re-Match, Part 3

Previously on Yu-gi-oh! Duelist Showdown! Jenn said, "Clyde's in a re-match with Joseph. I got to see this." Clyde said, "I'll give you a taste of your medicine by playing Swords of Revealing Light." Then, everyone watching the duel shielded their eyes while a bright light shined overhead, and The Swords of Revealing Light surrounded Joseph's field. Joseph said, "I play Polymerization. This card will fuse my Masked Avenger with his horse, Toronado. Now I can summon The Masked Horse Rider (2700/2800). I'll activate my duel armor and fuse myself with my Masked Horse Rider."

Then Joseph became The Masked Horse Rider, and everyone watching became impressed. Clyde said, "You thought you were the only one with duel armor. While I fused with my monster too, so now I'm Elemental Hero Bladedge, and you're The Masked Horse Rider." Jenn clapped and said, "Super. Two armored duelists about to go at it." Jenn watched Clyde and Joseph duel on her TV and saw them both wearing the armor she gave them. Esther, the Mind Reader, said, "This should be fun." Joseph said, "Here's a familiar face for you. Jenny, The Queen's Guard (1400/1500) in defense mode. And since she's The Queen's Guard in The Queen's Palace, she gets 200 more points. My castle combo is almost complete. I would like to see you come back from this." Clyde scowled at Joseph because his combo was getting on his nerves.

Clyde drew Skyscraper from his deck and said, "Good luck winning this duel after I play this card, Joseph. I've drawn the Skyscraper field spell." Clyde then activated Skyscraper, making a whole town appear around them and tear down half of Joseph's castle. Clyde said, "Now the field's half town, half castle. And if you like that, you're going to love this." Clyde jumped and said, "Bladedge, destroy his ninja!" Clyde then attacked Malena, The Ninja Girl. Joseph said, "Good luck; with Ninja Sword and Ninja Silver Throwing Stars in play, she's way more powerful than you." Joseph said, "Malena, counterattack!" Clyde said, "I knew you would try something like that, but something you didn't realize is when an Elemental Hero monster like my Bladedge attacks a monster stronger than him while Skyscraper is in play, he gains 1000 points, making him stronger than your ninja."

Then Clyde's power rose from 2600 to 3600, and he destroyed Malena, The Ninja Girl. Then Joseph lost 300 Life Points, bringing him down to 6,200. Clyde said, "Can't wait until next turn when I destroy another one of your monsters." Joseph drew Queen Violet from his deck and thought, "Queen Violet might complete my castle combo with her castle in play, but there's his face-down card. It might be a trap, and that'll finish me. This decision is the hardest one I've had to make throughout the duel, to attack or not to attack." Joseph said, "Now I will..." The people routing for Joseph kept their fingers crossed, hoping he would make the right decision. Joseph said, "Attack your armor with mine." Joseph rode Toronado up to Clyde and destroyed his armor. Clyde said, "Activate trap, Mirror Gate. This trap switches our positions, so all the attack damage aimed at me will go directly to you." Clyde's armor got destroyed, and Joseph lost 2600 Life Points, bringing him down to 3600. Joseph said, "No matter, I'll be free to strike again next turn. But for now, I'll end my turn."

Clyde drew Elemental Hero Avian from his deck and said, "I summon Elemental Hero Avian (1000/1000) in Attack Mode. Destroy his Queen's Guard! And thanks to Skyscraper, he gets 1000 more attack points." Then Elemental Hero Avian's power rose from 1000 to 2000, and he destroyed Jenny, The Queen's Guard. Then Joseph lost 400 Life Points, bringing him down to 3,200. Clyde said, "I'll end my turn." Joseph drew Mountain Cave Bear from his deck and said, "I summon Mountain Cave Bear (2000/1800) in Attack Mode. Now, I'll swing at you again! And I'll attack your Avian!" Joseph destroyed Elemental Hero Avian, and Clyde lost 1700 Life Points, bringing him down to 5400. Joseph said, "That ends my turn. Although, this duel is starting to get interesting." Frank said, "He's got that right; they're both losing life points." Jenn said, "These two are going at it like two cats would scratch each other's eyes." Ella said, "Clyde has the lead, but Joseph has the upper hand. This game is still anyone's to win."

Clyde drew Hero Kid from his deck and said, "I'll play another monster face down in defense mode and end my turn." Joseph pulled Queen's Pet Cat from his stack and said, "I play Queen's Pet Cat (800/750) in Attack Mode. Attack his defense monster!" Then Queen's Pet Cat destroyed Clyde's Hero Kid (300/600). Joseph said, "Mountain Cave Bear, it's your turn to attack!" The Mountain Cave Bear destroyed Clyde's other Hero Kid (300/600). Joseph said, "If you think your Life Points are safe, think again. With Mountain Cave Bear's special ability, the difference between his attack points and your defending monster's defense points gets subtracted from your Life Points." Then Clyde lost 1400 Life Points, bringing him down to 4,000. Joseph said, "That gets rid of half your Life Points." Clyde said, "True, but you've lost more than half." Then the score was 4000 to 3200. Joseph said, "Ok, I'm ending my turn."

Clyde drew The Warrior Returning Alive from his deck and said, "I play The Warrior Returning Alive. And I'll use it to bring back my Elemental Hero Sparkman from my graveyard and add him to my hand. Now I play him in Attack Mode and attack your cave bear. And thanks to Skyscraper, he gets 1000 more points." Then Elemental Hero Sparkman's points raised from 1600 to 2600, and he destroyed Mountain Cave Bear by shocking him. Then Joseph lost 600 Life Points, bringing him down to 2600. Clyde said, "And that ends your Mountain Cave Bear and my turn." Joseph said, "No matter, your Sparkman won't be around long." Joseph drew Red-Eyes Forest Coyotes from his deck, saying, "I'll sacrifice my Queen's Pet Cat to summon Megan, the Talking Horse (2100/2700) in Attack Mode. Destroy Sparkman!" Then, Megan, The Talking Horse, kicked Elemental Hero Sparkman up in the air and destroyed him. Then Clyde lost 500 Life Points, bringing him down to 3500. Luna said, "Clyde still has the lead, but they're keeping this on an even playing field. Their scores don't matter. What matters is how well they play their cards to win." Joseph said, "Ok, I'll end my turn."

Clyde looked at his deck and thought, "Please be a card that can help." Clyde drew an X-Head Cannon from his stack and said, "I play one monster face down in defense mode, and that's all I can do for now." Frank said, "This could take all day. Neither one of these guys can beat the other." Joseph drew Wendy. The Queen's Guard's Horse from his deck and then said, "I play Wendy, The Queen's Guard's Horse (1100/1100) in Attack Mode. And she gets a power boost with Queen's Palace in play." Then Wendy's power rose from 1100/1100 to 1300/1300. Joseph said, "Attack his defense monster, now." Then Wendy ran up to Clyde's defense monster, and Joseph saw it was an X-Head Cannon (1800/1500). Then Joseph lost 200 Life Points, bringing him down to 2400. Joseph said, "OK, Megan, kick that machine away!" Then Megan kicked X-Head Cannon away and destroyed it. Joseph said, "Yes. Have a nice vacation at the junkyard, you hunk of junk."

Clyde drew Mirror Force from his deck and thought, "Mirror Force could be just the card I need." Clyde said, "I lay 1 card face down and end my turn." Joseph drew Change of Heart from his deck and said, "I'll attack with Wendy, The Queen's Guard's Horse. Then Wendy attacked Clyde directly, and he lost 1300 Life Points, bringing him down to 2200. Joseph said, "That puts me in the lead, and I still have one attack left. Megan, attack him." Joseph said, "Activate Mirror Force. Now, all your monsters will get destroyed." Joseph said, "I wouldn't count on all my monsters, watch." Mirror Force reflected Joseph's attack and made it hit all of Joseph's monsters, including himself. Then Megan, The Talking Horse, and Wendy, The Queen's Guard's Horse, got destroyed, but Joseph's armor was too strong for the attack. Then Joseph lost 1400 Life Points, bringing him down to 1000. Joseph said, "My armor was more powerful than my horse's attack, so I do lose 600 Life Points. But, my armor remains on the field." Clyde drew H-Heated Heart from his deck and said, "I pass. There's nothing I can do this turn." Joseph said, "Which means I'll deliver the final blow. Masked Horse Rider, attack!" Then Joseph rode up to Clyde, attacked him directly, and Clyde lost 2700 Life Points, bringing him down to 0. Joseph said, "Looks like I've won again."

Once the duel was over, Joseph's armor disappeared. Then Clyde and Joseph heard clapping, turned around, and saw they had an audience. The people who routed for Joseph cheered, while those who bet on Clyde had to pay up to those who bet against them. Jenn was impressed by their performances and thought Joseph would be the better person for her to duel in the final match. Meanwhile, Luna and Ella walked down to Clyde Joseph. Ella said, "Hi, we saw the whole duel." Joseph said, "You did?" Luna said, "Not just us. Your match attracted quite a bit of attention." Luna pointed at the people watching, and Ella showed them that Jenn and a few other fans broadcasted it online and on TV so everyone could watch. Joseph said, "And now that the duel is over, I think it's time for someone to pay up." Clyde then gave Joseph five of his coins, and Joseph put them in his collection. Joseph said, "I now have 12 coins. So I'm halfway to the finals." Frank said, "Congratulations." Clyde said, "Yes, congratulations. But mark my words, I'll catch up. I may only have two left, but I'll have twenty-two more before the finals. Let's hope our paths don't cross again."
